The only notable elements about Rocky V were the Mickey flashbacks and Richard Gant's OTT performance as George Washington Duke. The rest was terrible and about as welcome as Stallone's naked ass in the beginning of the film. Rocky Balboa was a faithful return to the original tone of the franchise - not to mention, a nice way to sign off until now.

:owens: Creed ain't out until January over here
The Rocky 5 end credit montage done to Elton John's "Measure of a man" is one of my favorite moments of the Rocky series. If that shit doesn't give you goosebumps, you have no soul...

If we're gonna talk about montages from the Rocky series which give an incredible emotional run down on past events, then this is godly perfection:

Shit should be taught at film school like Eisenstein.

Yea I'm also positively surprised there is no mention of this movie in a thread specifically dedicated to a completely different movie.

I guess you only read the first 5 words of my question. I was actually asking if people think i should see creed(I'm pretty sure that's what this thread is about) or trumbo(doesn't have a thread)

Do you also go into Burger King and ask the people inside if you should eat there or at the MacDonalds across the street?

You obviously don't use the internet well.

You can try to derail the thread and make it about me, but then the "Angry Drizzle" you're so fond of will be drizzling angrily all over you.

It's available on the internet in a variety of places that should be well known to anyone who uses said sites. It's not a good movie; it's fucking awful. Michael Jordan is a capable actor, sure, but there is nothing else redeeming about the movie. If you long for the days of your childhood or possess some dumb affinity for Fell-The-Fuck-Off-Franchises this is the movie for you. Formulaic, droll, and littered with performances that inspire a shudder.

Anything not written by Kurt Sutter is going to be superior.

Not saying this is everything, especially so early in the game but the critics and fans agree.

Twitch review seems pretty reasonable, positive but upfront about the movie's limitations (namely that the interest hinges on Rocky himself and likely nobody really cares to just see Wallace)

Have we ever ranked the movies?

1,4,3,6,2........5 off the top. 2 didn't do much for me. 2/3 of the movie is rock moping around. And quite the letdown following up 1.

It's the same dude who directed Fruitvale Station which was a disservice to mankind in general.

Feels odd to put 2 that low but it's actually kinda fair. In retrospect it feels like fan service and maybe the early beginnings of when general trends switched from uncompromising bleak drama of the 70s to 80s crowd pleasing. 3 has a much more memorable villain in Clubber and more at stake for Rocky himself, 4 is the cornerstone of 80s movie jingoism and it works precisely because it's so overboard with it, 6 gives you closure and returns to a darker tone of the original.... so yea what does 2 have going for it besides the win itself?

TBH I haven't seen 2 in ages, but the very fact that I remember so much about the others but not much about 2 feels very telling
