Putting aside the fact that this is all pretty meaningless, did people really think Jordan deserve a nom for Creed? Coogler maybe, Stallone probably, but Jordan didn't really stand out to me.

My only beef is maybe no Sicario nominations, especially Benicio.

Carol should've gotten best movie and director nods

Tangerine has as good if not better acting than anything nominated but realistically there was no chance in hell of it getting any nominations

Damon didn't do anything special in the Martian imo, he was just being peak Damon

No black actors were nominated and people everywhere are outraged.

No one in Creed deserves anything; much less Stallone.

I need to finally see Compton to verify my 97% certainty that it's just a routine music biopic that doesn't deserve to be in this conversation regardless of how white the nominations look

Ice Cube's kid is far-and-away the standout; he owns the whole fucking movie. It's horrible otherwise.

Yes.

Emily Blunt carried that shit surprisingly well too.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/o ... zes-855824" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Al Sharpton says Hollywood is "fraudulent" because no black actors were nominated.
“Hollywood is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher up you get the whiter it gets," Sharpton stated.

yea she stood out the most to me as far as acting in that movie

realistically the best thing about that movie was Deakin's cinematography so in that regard it got exactly the nomination it deserved. although if popcorn shit like Martian could get a nod, no reason to not nominate this either.

This. The movie was a shit show plot wise and the acting was average.

I'd have nominated Creed for picture and director. Haven't seen most of the current nominations so I can't say for sure, but I highly doubt The Martian was better.

that's not really what i said though, I don't really have any problems with plot or acting in this. it just happens to also have mindblowing cinematography that overshadows the rest of it

Del Toro = Killed it
Brolin = Nailed it
Blunt = Carried it

Perhaps the themes were too complex or nuanced for you to mentally understand.

The plot was a mess. If you were blown away by the acting, good for you. Brolin played a basic character, agree on del toro but he was really just doing his del toro thing. And if blunt making pouty faces carries a movie then ooooook. It's a good movie, but the plot is all over the place and the cinematography is what caries the movie.
Creed was better.

Sicario's plot feels disjointed because it's a movie about Blunt that suddenly turns into a movie about Benicio, and that's a valid beef (although I'm wondering if it will still feel the same on re-watch, once you know where it's going). It's not as deep or insightful on the 'realpolitik yo' front as the writer seems to think, but the movie works best as an exercise in suspense and tension and for that it's good enough.

But Blunt is dope as fuck, you're way off on the pouty faces. Her character's arc through the movie is maybe the best thing in the script, and she does really well with it.
