He's been great, totally different than any character I've seen him play before.

Genuinely excited and happy for Glover. About time he got that action movie shine time and this is well deserved. The work on Atlanta has been inarguably brilliant too.

So this had some obvious issues, but I enjoyed it more than The Force Awakens.

I'll end it there and avoid all spoilers until you lot chime in.

Empire Strikes Back is the only Star Wars movie better than this one.

This shits on Force Awakens. A darker Star Wars film, which makes it even better. Because Jedi has me for sentimental reasons (I'm aware of its flaws), Rogue One is the 4th best Star Wars movie ever. The CGI was amazing. The relics they gave us. I really have no complaints at all. The 2nd half was beautiful, especially the final battle scene.

OK, it's been a few days, so fuck a spoiler free zone.

Can we all agree K-2SO's death was a way more crushing blow than Han-Solo's Shakespearian send-off?

No way does any of the prequels match up to this. So that basically leaves you with TFA or this being #4.

If you say it's better than Jedi, I won't hate. I get why everyone feels the Ewoks or the weak Boba Fett death ruined it, but the Vadar vs. Luke vs. Empire scene alone, plus all of that Jabba Palace shit was too nice.

Not for nothing but the deaths were nonstop. I had no time to grieve like Solo.

You actually got to grieve for Solo? I honestly felt we were robbed of a worthy death for one of the most iconic movie characters in the last forty years. We were denied of any prior scene between the two to establish the major shit between them.

If you're referring to the way it was done, I give you Boba Fett.

That said, we grew up with Solo, many of us, it was 3+ decades worth of Solo. When he died, that is all I could think about for the rest of the movie. Where as this movie, I didn’t have much invested in the characters and the deaths came one after the other.

Agree to disagree I guess.

This article pretty much nails my issues with Han's death.
.. In The Force Awakens Han has been distanced from us. Rather than the heroic male figure that we look up to, he’s now a figure looked up to by other figures that we’re watching. His death scene isn’t for us - it’s for Ren and Rey and Finn. Again and again I have heard people echoing my sentiments about this scene - it didn’t have any impact until Chewbacca became upset. Chewie’s rage and pain resonates in a way that Han’s actual death doesn’t.

Han’s death doesn’t resonate for two strong reasons: it’s the right death but acheived in the wrong way, and it comes at the wrong point of the movie. It’s a death that is unsatisfying in execution and it’s an emotional beat that isn’t allowed to breathe.

Young kids from the 90s love the prequels and 80s babies love Jedi.

Seventies baby here. It's fourth best for me, too.

Honestly need to see it a few times and for the dust to settle to really see how well it holds up, but I walked out of the theatre feeling far more satisfied compared to Force Awakens.

A much happier ending was originally planned, apparently

Kind of glad we got the darker ending, tbh. Might explain why so many clips from the trailer were either altered or never made it into the final print of the film.

Never been a fan of Disney, but I'm really surprised we got something this dark and risky, and it was in a Star Wars movie. Can't really knock them for reining it in a bit considering that two minute scene with Vader felt like some Jason Voorhees shit.

Hopefully there will be a director's cut, though.

You can't go back and watch Jedi like the other films though. The puppets are too damn bad. Episodes 2 & 3 > Jedi.

Rogue One was great but the first 45 minutes were awfully meh. Forest Whitaker's character gets a C- and the force-loving, martial arts super-fighter was kind of corny.

The last hour was cool, the battle was dope and the ending and cameos were fantastic
Hey, by the way who's Curt?

Breh, I'm an 80s baby (April 89 holla). I hate the prequels. Don't do me like that. happy Chanukah.
