20 years ago today, 'The Cable Guy' was released in theaters.

Love this movie then, love it now. Easily the most underrated in Carrey's career. Unless people sleep on Ace Venture 2, in which case, that's in there too.

This was the beginning of the Judd Apatow era of comedy, but people weren't ready for it then. It got trounced by a lot of people who went in looking for a "Jim Carrey" movie.

Could this movie come out today? Who could play the Cable Guy? What would the replacement for cable guy be in 2016?

if you made/released the exact same movie with the exact same cast today it would win awards and be lauded as a return to form for all involved

using a different combo of actors/writers/director wouldn't work
