Here’s what’s premiering for the month of August.

Beat Bugs (Netflix)

With a little help from rock legends (Eddie Vedder, Pink, James Bay, Sia, The Shins, Of Monsters and Men, Chris Cornell, Regina Spektor, James Corden and Frances), five friendly bugs learn big lessons about the world around them — all from the safety of their own backyard. (Premieres August 3rd)

Take My Wife (Seeso)

A half-hour, single-camera original series that follows a young lesbian couple (Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher) as elements of their domestic life intersect with the underground standup showcase they co-host. (Premieres August 11th)

The Get Down (Netflix)

Told through the lives and music of a ragtag crew of South Bronx teens, The Get Down is a mythic saga of the transformation of 1970s New York City. (Premieres August 12th)

Unlocking the Truth (MTV)

Love, lust, murder, mystery, suspense...all the makings of a great dramatic story. The catch? It’s not a fictional story. It’s real life. This serialized documentary series follows the journey of alleged wrongfully convicted prisoners fighting for their freedom. We will navigate these cases in an effort to uncover the truth with the highest possible stakes – the lives and freedom of innocent people locked up for life, and the duty to honor the lives of those lost. This series takes an in-depth look into three criminal cases through the unique POV of Ryan Ferguson, who at 19 years old was convicted of a murder he didn’t commit. (Premieres August 17th)

Fearless (Netflix)

On a journey from Brazil to the Las Vegas championships, professional bull riders risk it all to earn money, respect and titles. (Premieres August 19th)

Too Close to Home (TLC)
Image

The eight-part drama tells the story of a young woman who escaped her working class upbringing to discover unparalleled success in the fast-paced D.C. political circuit. (Premieres August 22nd)

Better Late Than Never (NBC)
Image

Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman and Jeff Dye will embark on the ultimate international excursion with no assistants, no limousines and no lattes, in search of an intimate, life-changing experience.
The five will navigate their way through each city (Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Chang Mai) — communicating with the local population, immersing themselves in local traditions and enjoying exotic food — all the while dealing with the unexpected twists and turns that any trip presents. As they check off items on their own personal “bucket list,” the five will rely on each other for support and encouragement and, in the process, demonstrate that friendship is the ultimate gift. (Premieres August 23rd)

Cleveland Hustles (CNBC)
Image

NBA superstar LeBron James and his longtime friend and business partner Maverick Carter will give four aspiring local entrepreneurs the chance to realize their own dreams while also helping to revitalize a neighborhood in Cleveland. LeBron and Maverick will enlist the aid of four trusted business experts and associates, who will in turn invest in and mentor fledgling entrepreneurs who need a little jumpstart. In success, these four businesses will provide jobs and services for neighborhoods that desperately need investment. (Premieres August 24th)
