Peeped this today, was expecting melodrama and it came in waves. Great flick though, beautiful to watch (describing both the cinematography and Alicia Vikander).

Cianfrance is definitely carving out his own little niche with this following Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines. This one is more straightforward and less complex than those films, but I can see why he was drawn to the subject matter given his affinity for stories of loss.
