Train to Busan
I think this is the best zombiefilm since REC.
Has anyone seen it?
There's lots of hype about it on the internet too. But I wouldn't say this film reinvents the wheel really, it just does everything right and on a scale that feels unprecedented for a movie like this. Think many of you guys would enjoy it.

Last guy you want to be stuck on a zombietrain with.
So this film made it to a lot of "best of 2016" lists which is really cool.

It's a well done zombie movie, but it's not really adding anything to the genre, imo. It's essentially Snowpiercer with zombies.

Word. It's better than Snowpiercer though.

I don't see how this film has anything to do with snowpiercer btw. That's like saying "it's basically Under Siege 2 with zombies".

Somewhat fair, but they are moving through the train car-by-car like they do in Snowpiercer. It's just what I was using to describe the film generally.

Re: Train to Busan
Maybe? Zombieland and Dead Snow I and II are the only films that come to mind that could rival it, imo. I wouldn't necessarily rank any of them higher than the other. Rec is superior to all of the movies up for consideration.Comedy Quaddafi wrote:Y/N, anyone?Comedy Quaddafi wrote:

Speaking of good zombie films, didn't anybody like The Girl with all the gifts? I really enjoyed that
Re: Train to Busan
The Girl With All the Gifts is a really great film.

+ La Horde.
The found footage genre is so played out now that I probably don't hold REC in as high esteem as other people.
Re: Train to Busan
Loved The Horde and Zombieland.
Personally, I think some of the more interesting films post-[REC} were Pontypool, Exit Humanity and The Dead. Let's not forget the [REC] sequels were also a good time, whether they jumped the shark or not.

Re: Train to Busan
La Horde, Dead Snow and The Dead are films I love as well. Jamrage is right to say theres not much between the best z-flicks of the last 10 years or so probably. But Busan stands out because of how well-made it is. You can just tell they put a lout of love and energy in to that film IMO.
Why REC is a cut above, in my estimation anyway, is that its legit terrifying. Guess I wasn't expecting something that intense at the time. Suppose its very individual how people react to movies but I'm sure I wasn't the only one who freaked out a little during the last half hour - I know my friends were even more worked up than me.
Need to see The Girl... if it belongs in this company.

Re: Train to Busan
It does, but it's way closer in style to cult British sci-fi flicks of the past than today's zombie horror flicks.
Re: Train to Busan
Trailers suggested that Train to Busan would be way sillier than the finished product. Really impressed how it nailed Romero's recurring motif of douchebags fucking over everybody in a zombie flick. Really liked this, but I still prefer The Girl With All the Gifts.
