like I read the oral history of goofellas.
apparently it had bad critical press and people didn't like it. so fuck them right?

same thing with godfather 2. same thing with apocalypse now.

so I'm just thinking what movies are you just about that everyone else hates or doesn't get?

I love The Saint. with Val Kilmer. I really do. that movie is just really really dope to me. I don't think it's even in print now. which is unfortunate. but I've seen it like 50 times. and I just love it. I mean really. the kid wants to learn magic so he starts doing thievery to impress his chick and escape and make something of himself at the age of like 8. it's amazing. and they show that when they wouldn't really do that. but the characters history is important. and the tretiyak (?sp) stuff is kind of buffoonish but kinda dope too. but the Saint is dope. and they end up giving cold fusion to the world and Val Kilmer and his love feel great about this.

I have an unhealthy love of "The rules of attraction" except the last 20 minutes which is completely unwatchable trash.
Also, "Bully". I've watched it maybe 500 times on cable. Clark>>>>>korine

Star Wars prequels are my obvious choice, but I came here to champion this and pretty much Carpenter's entire output from the nineties.

"Green Lantern".
Ryan Reynolds was a good Hal Jordan, even though his tone wasn't exactly like in the comics
OA was beautiful and immaculate, and the special effects in that movie were generally dope to me
Kilowog was perfectly voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan and they portrayed him perfectly
Sinestro was fucking phenomenal as Mark Strong, and I'm mad as fuck he didn't get to run amok in a sequel
Angela Bassett even showed up as Amanda Waller, word
Peter Sarsgaard played the perfect weird scientist ("I've never felt better in my life!" as his head is mutating to almost twice its normal size)
I even liked the bonus childhood story they added on to the re-edited version

but
Parallax was a dust blob villain and he ruined the movie

I'm so glad they are making a Green Lantern Corps for 2020

It's hard to think of movies that are universally hated but off the top Wolverine Origins and The Wolverine

I'm almost positive Goodfellas got glowing reviews out of the gate, but I was four when it came out so I can't say from experience. You thinking about Casino?

Howard the Duck - I haven't seen it in about 25 years, but I remember finding it hilarious when I was little

UHF - I have known exactly 3 people in my life who have seen this, and they all hated it (small sample size and all). I do not speak to any of these people anymore

^Howard the Duck was MY SHIT when I was a kid. I saw it three times in the theater and greatly preferred it ET at the time. I'd imagine it's aged as badly as a movie can age though.

Anyone who doesn't recognize UHF as a stone-cold classic comedy is a fucking asshole. I thought everyone has seen this since just like PCU it used to play on Comedy Central like once a week back in the day.
Badgers? We don't need no stinking badgers!
