Bourdain made food interesting. He gave inspiration to travel and to be open minded towards different cultures and their foods. He was a rockstar who marched to the beat of his own drum. He refused to pull punches and his whole demeanor both on and off camera was to be admired. There has been a lot of food shows, but none better than his, especially No Reservations. RIP food God.

He was selfish and his death shouldn't be something that is treated as this grand, ejaculatory celebration. The media fawns all over dead celebrities, even when they leave behind children, and then pretend it cares by constantly running the National Suicide Prevention Hotline in their chyrons. It's a disgusting spectacle and one that should hardly induce sadness as we live in a world devoid of all praise of life and constant, incessant death.

Before he offed himself, whether an accidental overdose or suicide, he should have thought about what his child will endure knowing that her own father didn't care enough to be there for her. This place turned me on to Bourdain by recommending his Top Chef Season 3 blog on the Bravo website. Have been a huge fan ever since. Like his shows but to me its as a writer he set himself apart. GOAT food writer, in my opinion. His cookbook is great too (dids approved).

Also, the fact that Eric Ripert found him made me especially sad. Don't know these dudes at all but the thought of showing up to see a friend and finding them dead is crushing.

Also, he's spoken about how shitty and selfish it would be to kill himself alter he had a child. Wasn't enough, apparently.
