Who Watched the Spelling Bee?

Post by Trademark »

Shit was dope...The dude who won it's name was actually the final word he had to spell.... I thought the little dude would take it...not a very diverse group in the final three... took it like 19 rounds the kid who spelt it out every round on his number board won.... Skids were smart asses too...

On sportscenter they showed this one kid that said "Do the chickens have large talons?" from Napoleon Dynamite before spelling the word.

I watched it. While it was on I even ordered the "Spellbound" DVD which is a documentary on the spelling bee. It follows a few kids who prepare for it.
The ESPN commercial for the spelling bee was great. The one with the kids spelling "pressure" on "ESPN."

I am indian, and indian parents are the reason for this, they are an embarrassment to good parenting..luckily, my parents were much cooler.

can't we just replace indian with "asian" to include us koreans

cuz really it's out of hand in both our cultures

p.s. they're making an entire fictional fucking movie about some black girl preparing for and winning the spelling bee...the great laurence fishburn is playing the dad

wtf
Hahaha, I watched about 10 minutes of it and saw this part. I did an ill double take. It was so unexpected, coupled with the fact that no one laughed, and he had to explain that he was making a joke

Spellbound was a great movie. Seeing it in the theaters was hilarious, every person in the audience was trying to spell the words under their breath.

I love Spellbound and Spelling Bees and stuff involving spelling. I used to be quite the speller myself (my dad used to make us memorize a page out of the official spelling bee dictionary, and once we finished that, we would do the next page, all through my childhood).

Anyway, did anyone see that ep of the Simpsons where Lisa's in the spelling bee?

The crooked judge (played by the hilarious George Plimpton) says: "Lisa, spell 'whether'."

"Can you use it in a sentence?"

"The boy didn't know whether the weather would be any good today."

I ROFLed.

Love,

Smooth "Choke? That's easy. F... dammit!" Lou

I'm surprised at all the love that "Spellbound" has gotten on here and we're not even talking Hitchcock. I am definitely looking forward to seeing this.
As for Spelling Bees, I watch it every year on ESPN. I was a 3 time Spelling Bee champion at my elementary school (1st, 3rd and 5th grades).
