Is there such thing as a boombox w/ a 3-5 disc cd changer?

Post by Rachel Hobozal »

My aunt always looks to me for these types of answers, but I'm stumped on this one. She and my Uncle have a trailer down in Mexico and they already have your average run-of-the-mill boombox with a single deck cd player and radio, etc., but due to the laziness and drunkness factor while spending time at the trailer, they wanted to buy something a little less demanding so they can just load it with five cd's, press play, and tend to the more important things to do while in Mexico, like getting fucked up and streaking... usually in that order.

That was a long fucking sentence.

Damnit, they didn't have one either. This is crazy. I looked on Best Buy's site, WalMart's site, Good Guy's site: nothing.

my previous lack of knowledge was due to the fact that I don't even think they even make them anymore, they're all like 10+ dics changers now....maybe Circuit City or K-Mart or Target?

I'm gonna check Target right now.

I just want to clarify: they do not have electricity at the trailer, so this must be a battery operated boombox; preferably one piece, not a component type.

They do exist. Panasonic is the tops with that kind of system. I know there is a 5-disc joint out there, I've seen in the S&H catalog.

aresem: that one is too nice for the trailer. Shit will get scuffed and ruffed in no time. Thanks for looking, though.

Andro: obviously that one works while plugged into a socket, but does it work on batteries alone? That actually looks good, otherwise. I read the specs but didn't see anything that mentioned batteries.

Yes it runs on batteries. It's "portable."

Here

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... lectronics

Not all reviews are great, but

"This is the only multi-CD player I've found that runs on batteries. I've been using it for at least 2 hours every day at a swimming pool (hence the requirement for batteries) for several months, in general changing the CD for each song. The batteries last 7 hours. "

Yeah, but portable could just mean it's easy to move. Why wouldn't it mention the batteries? That just doesn't make sense to me. I'd hate to recommend they buy a stereo and have them find out later it ain't gonna work. Maybe I'll call them or something.

Thanks for the help, y'all.

Damn, I appreciate the help but those reviewers pretty much trashed it.

Thanks. I let them know about this machine and they can decide.
