That guy was never in good shape. And whatever he did in the ring even in his "prime" can barely be called wrestling.Snuggles the DESTROYER wrote:Where does Sandman wrestle now?
I haven't watched any wrestling for years but I imagine him in pretty horrible shape.

god, i can't wait for this PPV. i havent seriously watched wrestling in about 2-3 years, but i still love me some ECW. it's gonna be fucking great, regardless of what happens. it sucks that RVD won't be wrestling. i talked to him back in Feb. at the Wondercon in SF. he was a little peeved that this whole PPV was his idea and he can't even wrestle in it.

I watched part of Smackdown (at least a bit....) tonight just to see clips of the ECW stuff from RAW.No homo wrote:god, i can't wait for this PPV. i havent seriously watched wrestling in about 2-3 years, but i still love me some ECW. it's gonna be fucking great, regardless of what happens. it sucks that RVD won't be wrestling. i talked to him back in Feb. at the Wondercon in SF. he was a little peeved that this whole PPV was his idea and he can't even wrestle in it.
I just wish The Eliminators were involved.

Apart from Raven, RVD, Sabu and Joey "OH MY GOODDDD" Styles, i always found ECW a little overrated
far too white trash for my liking and i've never liked Heyman.
I won't deny they were doing some great stuff in their '97-'99 prime and that WWF ripped them off shamelessly
but to say they were better than WWF circa the same period is ridiculous as that was a great period for Vince :
the 2nd HBK ladder match with Razor Ramon, HBK vs Bret Hart, the Hart vs Austin feud (the "i quit" match is probably my favorite match ever), the Bret Hart & Canada VS America feud, Austin becoiming a superstar, Mankind matches against Undertaker, HBK and The Rock, Iron Mike refereeing the HBK vs Austin match, gay Rocky Maivia becoming the great one The Rock and joining N.O.D and then The Corporation and giving the greatest promo shots in wrestling history and HHH/Chyna, the return of HBK and the genesis Degeneration X.

Yeah man actually I'd say 95-96' was like the highest point of their career because everyone was on their A-Game.....coincidentally this is when Heyman started being the booker and Tod Gorden was the commissioner.....damn i still remember the Sabu vs. RVD stretcher match...me and my friends got some Cisco and sat in front of the TV and watched it all go down. As for the one-night stand I think it's a very good idea but I'll catch it when it comes out on DVD.....and word to ol' boy who said they wish the Eliminators were back together......Man I wish Doc and Gordy were back together (R.I.P. Terry Bam Bam Gordy)I Drive A Lexus wrote:Apart from Raven, RVD, Sabu and Joey "OH MY GOODDDD" Styles, i always found ECW a little overrated

Yeah, the DVD is actually coming out June 28th, I think.
I don't know how many of you follow the independent circuit, but tonight is Hardcore Homecoming, at the ECW arena.
Justin Credible (w/Jason) vs Jerry Lynn
Raven vs Sandman
Rematch of Original 3-Way Dance:
Terry Funk vs Shane Douglas (w/Francine) vs Sabu (w/Bill Alfonso)
Tracy Smothers (w/ Tommy Rich and J.T. Smith) vs The Blue Meanie
CW Anderson & Simon Diamond vs Chris Chetti and Mikey Whipwreck
Kid Kash vs 2 Cold Scorpio
This show isn't being done by a specific promotion, it was kind of just put together, and should be amazing.
Also, ROH is running a show in Manhatten the afternoon of the ECW PPV, where Shane Douglas is going to do a shoot on that evening's show (I'm sure he'll have something bad to say, he always does).
All in all, great weekend for wrestling -- two "ECW" reunion shows, and an ROH.

Please its Mike Awesome Mullet. I always thought that the Mike Awesome era of ECW was the downfall of the company. I know Sabu was the most unrealiable man in the locker room but he deserved the belt more or give it to the man New Jack.Dango727 wrote:Mike Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka has been added to the line-up for ECW's One Night Stand

Results of "ECW Hardcore Homecoming" from this past friday night..it featured a barbwire match!
"Hardcore Homecoming was great!!!
Despite some issues with the parking (the fact that we can't park under the overpass right next to the Arena like we used to do), everyone was there and seemedpretty upbeat. I will have to say I am still disappointed in the average wrestling fan, as every stereotype imaginable was there, but for the most part it was cool. And finding seating for General Admission was a chore, but I managed by getting there like 3 hours early. Lots of people had to stand.
Hat Guy got HUGE ovations when he came in, first to "Where's Your Hat", then a thunderous "ECW" when he pulled it out. It was great.
Tod Gordon was first to huge cheers, as most, but not all, forgot that he tried to sell everyone out to WCW. Joey Styles, Cyrus (with a weird new hairstyle), and Joel Gertner said hello first. Joel was particularly obscene, to everyone's cheers.
First match was Simon Diamond and CW Anderson vs. Chris Chetti and Mikey Whiprweck. What the hell is Bilvis Wesley doing that's too important to team with CW? Anyway, Simon got an ok pop, Chetti got an ok pop, CW had his own loud, obnoxious cheering section, and Mikey got a big pop! Shockingly, there were no chants at Simon about his (ex?)-finacee Dawn Marie being knocked up. Especially since I tried to start some. Anyway, good match that saw everyone hit their finishers but Mikey (my all-time favorite ECW wrestler, by the way) finished with a WhipperSnapper on Simon.
Next up was Tracey Smothers vs. The Blue Meanie. Like everyone else, I was sad to see no Tommy Rich, but JT Smith was there and that was nice. Meanie looks like he's put back on a lot of weight since he lost it all lo those many years ago. I guess that's what happens when you don't have a porn star to pork anymore. Anyway, it was played mostly for comedy, with a dance-off! When they wrestled, it wasn't particularly good. Wanna guess who didn't hold their end up? Anyway, Tracey won, and not a moment too soon. I like the Meanie and all, but mehhhhh...
Then there was the tribute to the fallen stars. I can't help but feel Rocko Rock got really shortchanged by the death of Candido, as he was by FAR the focus of the video, and everyone in attendance. Anyway, Johnny Grunge (representing Rock) and Pitbull Gary (representing Pitbull Anthony) came out, and out comes Tammy Sytch, wearing a dangerously low-cut dress. She seems pretty chipper, I was very suprised. Johnny talked about the passed folk, and as Tammy goes to speak, the ever-so-classy ECW fans chant "Show Your Tits". To a woman who just lost her husband, and hell, the guy she was with for like 15 years. Thank God she takes it in good humor, asking how much more she could possibly show (if you saw the dress, you'd agree). She talks about Chris, and out comes Dangerous Danny Doring and Roadkill. They say they want them out of the ring, and as they start to leave they attack Gary and Johnny. So out comes a now bald 911 who chokeslams Doring and Roadkill, then chokeslams Roadkill AGAIN, through a table. Johnny, Gary, 911, and Tammy hug, then 911 tries to lift Tammy on his shoulders... and collapses! "You fucked up" chants start, and are well deserved. They all laugh about it though. As an fyi, Tammy did look really good, not Sunny hot, but not bad at all. A group prayer ends it, it seems they each left something inthe ring in memory of the fallen, and leave.
Kid Kash comes out and acts like a complete prick, which is good. Too Cold Scorpio comes out and looks in the best shape I've ever seen him. He's actually skinny and has some abs! Anyway, they had a really good match, which was not a surprise, and Scorp finished it with something from the top (I forget what, I was too busy sweating off 5 lbs). Both men got big ovations after the match. Kash even got "TNA SUCKS" chants, haha.
Kronus comes out with some plunder, and stands by his challenge to any tag team even with Saturn unable to be in attendance. And who comes out but Axl, and everyone thinks it's going to be Balls, but NO! IAN ROTTEN! RETURN OF BAD BREED! Wow, I can honestly say NO ONE saw that coming! They beat the shit outta Kronus until "Natural Born Killer" hits, and of course New Jack comes out with KNIVES! Him and Ian pair off, while Axl and Kronus go by the ramp. New Jack calls
for the painters scaffolding, and jumps off through Ian and the table! New Jack then goes on and on about everything, it was pretty cool.
Intermission. We could enter and exit the building, so the guy I sat next to went out and got me and some others who were talking waters from his car. He wouldn't take my money either. He and his friend were from Cleveland and drove 7 hours to be there. The guys behind us were from Connecticuit, and I'm from Jersey. ECW brings people together.
Anyway, we come back and it's time for Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible. Try as I might, I just couldn't get chants like "Cleanup in Aisle 6" or "I saw you at target" or "You were the least talented member of X-Factor" chants started. Yes, I hate Justin Credible. Anyway, this was a pretty good match thanks to my main man Jerry. Jerry got the win, and told u shis birthday is Sunday, and that he isn't too bad for 42. Shit, he's great for 22. I REALLY wish he had been given a chance in WWF when he was there, I loves me some Jerry Lynn.
The REAL main event is next, as Raven takes on Sandman. Raven came out with the Meanie and, YES! BEST SURPRISE OF THE NIGHT! THE MUSKETEER! Sandman comes out on the ramp and not the crowd, which is shocking, and takes 3 hours to get to the ring. But that's ok, because he does eventually get in the stands, and is RIGHT BEHIND ME! I am SO on the DVD when it's released! In my bright red Lance Storm shirt and out-of-control sideburns (once the DVD is released and you get it (and I KNOW you will), you'll see!) He spit up beer and we all cheered. Why, I don't know. It's used beer. But it was still cool. Raven gets on the mic and insults the crowd, and tells them they're too stupid to realize we're being insulted since we agree/cheer what he says. He sends the Musketeer and Meanie after him first, but that doesn't last long. They fight all over inside and outside the ring. They get Sandman down, and Meanie tries a Meaniesault, but only his head hits Sandman. So he goes up again, and it happens AGAIN! FINALLY Raven pulls him out a bit more and Meanie hits it to HUGE cheers! Kick out, and Sandman gets ahead again until Mr. 498 Donn E. Allen attacks Sandman! Holy shit, THAT is old school ECW! MIKEY comes in and takes out Allen and downs beers with Sandman, before WHIPPERSNAPPER ON SANDMAN! Raven gets the win. I don't know, Mikey should hate both of them, it was just weird.
Terry Funk comes down, and wants barbed wire. They bring it out, start applying it, but then go to the back. BACKLASH! I tell everyone it's probably the athletic commission, and from what I've read, that's the case. They came back out, and I guess they gimmicked it or something, cause it was put up. First out is Shane Douglas and Francine. She looks good as ever. Shane gets on the mic and while we chant "Thank You Shane", he goes off on Vince McMahon, and some people actually chant for him to "Shut the Fuck Up", and I was one of them. I hate The Victim known as Shane. Next was Sabu with Bill Alphonso, big pop. Then Terry Funk came down with Tammy. More like shuffled down, cause the man can barely move. He
could barely move 10 years ago when he was wrestling. Anyway, gruesome match with only Shane smart enough to wear stuff under his clothes to avoid severe injury from the wire. Sabu looked healthy (for Sabu) too. Funk at one point gets his wrist caught between 2 pieces of wire... I don't think it was too gimmicked, if at all. Shane brings in a rickety, barely standing ladder and climbs it... but the lights go down. Comes back on... it's Cactus Jack! Shane's old Wrestling
School chum. He beats up Shane, then hits Mr. Socko! The cheers UNANIMOUSLY turn to boos, as Cactus Jack does NOT use Socko in ECW! "Socko sucks!" chants. So he gets HARDCORE and wraps Socko in BARBED WIRE AND STUFFS IT DOWN SHANE'S THROAT! God, someone needed to do that years ago. Terry gets the pin on Shane, as Mick is now acting ref. Some more blood and brutality, until Terry puts Sabu on a table and climbs the ladder to jump on him, but THE LADDER COLLAPSES! Ladder, Terry, and Sabu all go through the table! Sabu regains his senses, Arabian Facebuster, to my SHOCK and HAPPINESS, Sabu wins!
Cactus hugs Terry and Sabu, all the wrestlers come down and start hugging. Shane comes out at the top to huge "THANK YOU SHANE" chants, followed by "PLEASE COME BACK" Show ended, autograph session was about to start, I had a 2 hour drive and was drenched, so I hightailed it after getting a shirt, programs, and the Hardcore Revolution (or whatever it's called) DVD that they're putting out with Raven, Sandman, Funk, Styles, and Sabu talking about the history of ECW, since they were not of the WWE version.
All in all, this was the most fun I have had at wrestling since WrestleMania XX, and one of the most fun nights of my life. Anyway, GREAT show, get it on DVD when it comes out, I can't say enough about it.
