I have to go with "Adaptation". Such a dope and complex screenplay, one of the best in movie history (well recent).

I agree 100%. Adaptation. INCREDIBLE script

all of those scripts are incredible. With the exception of Human Nature.
It's just really good, not incredible.

Adaptation by far is one of my favorite movies ever....

on first watch I enjoyed it, and it was kind of a mind fuck, then I read up on it and realized what the whole movie I thought was about really wasn't and it totally fucked with my head for days...

if you dig deep with this movie and dvd you'll know what I'm talking about...

I think jizzy and andvil know whats up....

"Adaptation" is genius...there's so much to it.
When people think of Providence, Rhode Island they typically think of organized crime

Eternal Sunshine was the one that really got the most emotion out of me and thats why i chose it.

granted all his scripts are great. (i've yet to see Human Nature though)
I just love his writing.

Adaptation is one of my favorite movies... so many little things and its just fucking great.
but Eternal Sunshine just captured the essence of relationships and when they end or go bad. The dialogue, how you feel when its over, it was just brilliant in my mind.
Sometimes I cant even watch that film because I know how I'm going to feel if I do. Not many films have that effect on me.

I don't feel qualified to judge a script by seeing the movie, as so many other elements go into the final product. I haven't seen Human Nature and thought Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was flat (cue the Sam Rockwell dislike).

i prefer Eternal as a movie

BUT

i voted for Adaptation

that script cant be touched... Eternals greatness i think had less to do with the script and more to do with performances and direction then the script (dont get me wrong, its still an incredible script)

have time? judge for yourself:

anyone else besides me actually read scripts?

if u want to, check:
http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Adaptation.html
http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Eternal-Su ... -Mind.html

that site has a billion and one scripts... alot of them arent the final drafts but still enjoyable reads

I actually don't think he's that good.

I think he's strange for the sake of being strange. It's just that his stories are so odd that the average person can recognize the writing, whereas in a better written scripts like "The Aviator", for example, people don't recognize the writing because it's subtle and quietly moves the story along with strong dialogue and action. I think if he wrote subtle script with a more "normal" story people would realize that he's not that dope.

His writing reminds me of this film my friend did called "The Adventures of Schizoid Bill" He played it festivals with equally strong pieces that had actually better sound design. But at the end of the festival, during the question and answer portion his was the only one that got any comments about the sound design... know why? Cause he used a whole bunch of crazy and cartoony sound f/x while everyone else had beautiful traditional sound tracks.

I didn't vote.

There's a difference between being weird for the sake of being weird and just being weird. I think Charlie Kaufman is just fucking weird.

I really like Mr. Kaufman. I'm a big fan of the unpredictable stuff though. Keeps you on your toes (no homo).

I thought Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine were top notch scripts. Weirdenss aside, the writing was solid. That last scene in Eternal Sunshine didn't have any gimmicks. Just two actors talking.

But my favorite script of his is undoubtedly Being John Malkovich. Malkovich Malkovich? MALKOVICH!
