The Greatest Comedic Performance of All Time

Post by cascarrabias »

For me it's between Steve Martin in The Jerk and Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack.

I'm gonna go with Steve Martin (no homo).

Even though he's annoying as fuck in real life, it's gotta go to Roberto Benigni in Night on Earth. Anyone who's seen that movie knows what's up.

Honorable mentions:

Bill Murray in Quick Change - A classic no one ever gives props to.

Eddie Murphy in Trading Places.

Dennis Leary in The Ref.

too many different styles of comedy; the list will be subjective based on what you find funny.

God damn varick...you know your shit.

Peter Sellers is a good choice. That's probably one of the best performances of all time, period.

The Jerk is a classic performance in a classic movie, but I much preferred Bill Murray's performance to Rodney's in Caddyshack.

Good call on MP's Holy Grail and Trading Places.

Sixty plus years on these fellas still make me laugh.

WOOOOOORD. That's what I was thinking when I opened up the thread... One of the few movies where I laugh hard through the whole thing. I need to get this on DVD.

I also second Moolah's Dumb & Dumber nomination.

I will add John Cleese in Fawlty Towers.

Though it's recent, that's probably my top pick.

These people have hurt my stomach:

Everyone not named Jon Stewart on the Daily Show for the past few years.

Bill Murray in Kingpin.

The Law & Order SVU dude (Meloni?) as the Vietnam Vet chef in Wet Hot American Summer

The guy who plays the guy who turns into the Toxic Avenger in "The First Turn On"

Paul Reubens in Pee Wee's Big Adventure & his HBO special.

Bill Murray in Kingpin.
Someone really needs to make a movie with the Ernest McCrackin character
totally wasted in that corny flick.
