As preposterous as it might seem, I never checked for Al Green for a long time. It didn't happen until I took an African American Pop Music class in junior year of college. We were watching a clip of the reverend singing his own version of "O Precious Lord". just the sheer passion in his voice, real talk, just hit me right in the heart. his rendition, the way he gets into it...straight up beautiful, man.
now i want to buy a whole lot of his albums.
