the wes anderson covers are ill your crazy.
I just got the Kurosawa:Four Samurai Classics pack last week. I have watched Yojimbo and Sanjuro so far. I was too drunk and high to really pay attention to Sanjuro and will have to watch it again but Yojimbo was sick. I am trying to track down point blank right now. I will have to check out some of these other films.
Not sure which ones though

glad this thread is here
the first criterion i had was life aquatic, which i love emphatically
after taking some cash from a.c. i decided to get some more of these things and picked up 8 1/2, the tin drum, and the phantom of liberty
then about a week later picked up seven samurai, rififi and diabolique
will be getting more soon, who knows of what though, probably another bunuel (bourgeosie?), man bites dog, who knows what else, perhaps m

We got Ran in a couple weeks.
More from Kurosawa in January:
Truffaut in December:
It looks like Kind Hearts and Coronets got announced for February, that's a good movie (no cover art yet).
As for the rest, which I don't generally care about, they are:
November
December
January
February
And Viridiana (Luis Bunuel) which has no cover art.

mmmm. just by the look of this cover, looks DOPE...
Is there a comprehensive listing of all Criterion releases with a breakdown of the films...? I'd like to get a jump on that.
*edit....I just answered that one myself... http://criterionco.com/asp/

The local Good Guys is closing and all the DVDs are 40% off. They didn't have a lot of shit, but they did have two Criterions: Hoop Dreams and The Leopard. I already have Hoop Dreams which sucks because there it's like 10 dollars, but it's cool because I wanted it on the release date. But now that you've recommended it, I might pick up The Leopard.RacquetballGangsta wrote:straw dogs was average, at best. easily my least favorite peckinpah joint so far. seemed almost kubrick-esque really.and that aint a good look for sam, ya dig?

Funny, I just went to the Good Guys yesterday and saw Hoop Dreams for cheap. I didn't buy it though, and I'm still not sure why. I guess I just can't see myself wanting to watch that movie enough times to warrant purchasing it.FAZER wrote:The local Good Guys is closing and all the DVDs are 40% off. What, no Samurai Rebellion??? That's easily the best out of the Rebel Samurai package. I wasn't that impressed with Sword of the Beast and Samurai Spy. I guess that's because I watched Kill! and SR first. Anyway, I'd cop samurai rebellion and Kill! as soon as possible.
and to answer your question, Rififi.

RIFIFI...! WHUT! That movie was BADASS.
I told someone about this flic and they went on to look up some info on the film. They came to a site that claims that RIFIFI is being remade and starring Al Pacino...and it was going to be released this year...

I got Ugetsu in the mail today and I decided to look in Criterion's 2006 catalogue to see if there were any surprises, and I found something.
Sometime in the next couple of months they will release Orson Welles' Mr. Arkadin. They still haven't mentioned it on their site, so I don't have any cover art.

I noticed that too. DVDAficionado has had it listed as a Criterion release also. Definitely interested in checking it out.StormShadow wrote:Sometime in the next couple of months they will release Orson Welles' Mr. Arkadin.
