01 - Blam Blam Fever - The Valentines
Maybe my favourite Ska track ever. The guy with the stupidly deep voice on the chorus just makes the song. Our crew has been known to listen to this track 10 times in a row. Illness.

02 - R Dean Taylor - There's A Ghost In My House

I don't know too much about Northern Soul apart from a short book I read about it years ago, but apparently this was a bit of a club banga' back in the day.

03 - Stupid Puma - Don Caballero

Crazy 'math rock', as its labelled. I really like a lot of their music but some of it is frankly, a load of old bollocks. This track is really dope, as is the whole of 'Don Caballero 2'.

04 - Smack 'em Up Sharp - Cylob

Hardish electronic track from Rephlex.

05 - Shit For Brains - Fudge Tunnel
Noisy. From Ear Ache records

06 - Tracy - Mogwai
'Experimental' rock music. ie they sound a bit like Slint. Its best to listen to whole albums of Mogwai rather than individual tracks, but this is worth checking.

07 - Panico - As Mercenarias
80's Brazilian all girl punk band. Off the 'Sexual Lives of the Savages' comp that Soul Jazz put out. Very catchy.

By the way - make sure you peep the Comanechi track i posted the other day.

That "blam blam" song is probably the pick of the bunch. Dope.

That "ghost in my heart" song. I was expecting some soul but it sounds more like Spencer Davis Group. Like it.

I've heard Mogwai before but i find them a little too derivative. They're okay, i guess.

The 2 As Mercenarias songs are definately the best songs off that brazil comp, aren't they..?

Fudge Tunnel sound like a harder version of Unsane or someone like that. Earache Records..Damn, i remember they always used to have ads in Flipside back in the day.

I know Don Caballero but i don't have this album. Good stuff. "Math rock", though : what a silly genre name.

That Comcarribias or whatever they're called group sound like Huggy Bear, don't they..? Sorta thing that Kill Rock Stars Records would put out. Pretty good.

I have the rest of that Fudge Tunnel EP if you're interested.

Yeah - Math Rock is a very stupid genre name.

The As Mercenarias songs are definitely the best, although its a strong comp overall.

Comanechi definitely sound like Huggy Bear, yeah. I've heard that comparison before a couple of times.

Thanks for the Mud tracks, dope shit.
Have been playing those Sonics tracks a lot too - whats a good album to get by them? What album are those tracks off?

Another Sonics favorite :

The Sonics-money.
And one of my favorite songs by The Jam
a '77 Brit punk band with a strong Who/mod influence.

The Jam-slow down.

Bedhead
-rock with excellent interplay from three guitarists, starts out quiet and builds perfectly to a noisy ending. King Coffey of Butthole Surfers fell in love with this song, and quickly signed the band to his Trance Syndicate label. Steve Albini also loves the group, and produced their third and final full-length album Transaction de Novo.

"Bedside Table"
Theoretical Girls
-noise rock from influential no-wave band that included guitar symphony composer Glenn Branca and producer Wharton Tiers. this type of shit seems to always sound better live so here it is. best song lyrics ever.

"Theoretical Girls (Live)"
Labradford
-two tracks from their 1997 album Mi Media Naranja. instrumental rock that makes excellent use of echoing guitars, sparse yet effective percussion, and strings. remarkable restraint and amazing music that sometimes sounds like Ennio Morricone.

"S"
"V"
