Do not purchase the new Warriors "director's cut"
Drops Tuesday. I'm pretty sure that I'm the only one that cares about or was waiting for it, but I found out some stuff that will nix my purchase of said movie. Apparently, the "director's cut"* is a new digital transfer of the movie, but some scene transitions involve the shot freezing and then turning into a comic panel a la Creepshow, then it moves to another still comic panel and the action starts up again. This is a crappy and pointless device and certainly not worth this "re-release" hubub.
So yeah, get the old DVD on eBay if you don't already have it. The movie is dope.
*I really shouldn't have put it in quotes, since director Walter Hill did have input on this.

I've been peeping mad info about the video game, and it looks like it will be slamming.
I know it's the wrong forum, but if loving this video game is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

Ok, well I didn't know you could return a movie once you opened it, but you're a smart guy, so I'll let you figure that out on your own.Andvil wrote:hey, thanks for the advice. My thing is, if you don't think you'll like it, you might want to just return it while it's still wrapped. I mean, you could probably just download it first, see if it's something you'd want in your collection, and then decide.
Maybe I'm looking too far into it; it is only ten dollars. But hey, this is coming from the guy who still hasn't opened up his 'Army of Darkness' dvd just because he's skeptical as to whether or not he'll like the original ending or not.

Ok, see the Cleanhobo did not know you bought it from WalMart. See, he was not aware of that.Andvil wrote:haha
I'm willing to bet if I opened it, and really hated it enough to want to get rid of it, I could just take it to Wal-Mart and complain.
They'll take severed limbs if you put up a good argument.
and I should know

So what's the deal with the extra 22 minutes or whatever that was supposed to be in this cut?
I know that there are scenes that were deleted from the flick....
I can't believe they'd not give you an option to watch without the cartoon.
Not doubting what I'm reading, but still can't believe it..
This might have to be something I rent to test drive, and then decide whether or not to purchase.

From the little I know, Walter Hill himself opted for this senseless intrusion into the original edit of the film. I saw a television commercial for the DVD this weekend which subtly corrorborated what I claimed (about comic-style segues) in the beginning of this thread.Jizzy wrote:Are we sure there isnt an option to switch that shit off? I mean why has this been added to the movie? Which genius thought it would be a good idea?
My friend who reviewed the re-release for a Canadian publication says you cannot switch off the option, and there is no director commentary. Walter Hill claims "the movie speaks for itself," which is complete nonsense as I can think of ten remotely interesting facts about the movie off the top of my head, which would be worth including in the commentary.
As for there being 23 extra minutes of footage in it, my friend says he didn't notice, though he's not as caught up in the movie as I am. If I had to guess, this might be the footage which is available in the TV-version edit, though I have no idea.

I also want to know if Cleon died or not.
