^^ shit, never even heard of that

I found 2 new ones

This is actually a pretty famous russian effort from the late 70s, I saw it a bunch of times when I was little and completely forgot about it until I found it on a used rack in Kim's. The subject matter is pretty different, I can't actually think of another modern day pirate movie. Decent amount of action, some random karate, a tiny bit of sleaze, sticks to the pirate theme - not bad at all.

Early (1937) french noir which inspired an american remake the year after its release (first instance of hollywood remaking a european hit?) and 5 years later inspired Casablanca. Jean Gabin is excellent as usual as a super smooth gangster hiding out in the Casbah. Like Casablanca it's more of a romantic drama than a crime thriller, but there's enough scheming and exotic locations to keep it from being vaginafied on any level. Highly recommended

I didn't really like that one, definitely a lesser effort compared to Lenzi's other work in the genre. I thought it dragged in the middle. The reviews at large are generally positive though, so you might want to consider a second opinion

there's a promising new source for bootlegs (well, only 1 bootleg so far)

http://www.geocities.com/roegcamel/Skowhee_page.html

They have an english friendly remastered (from the german dvd i think) print of Lenzi's Free Hand For a Tough Cop (Milian + Henry Silva). I've heard about this one for ages, really psyched to pick it up...

However, I would wait a bit before ordering because it looks like they're gonna have another Lenzi joint in good condition soon - From Corleone To Brooklyn. I've seen a very shitty version of it and even that impressed the living crap out of me, been dying for a good copy

awesome...more and more of these titles need to become available.

just finished watching Silva in THE BOSS...

prolly the greatest polizei flick yet for me. I freakin loved it. Silva bitch slappin his hoe and tellin her to shut her mouth was just pure class A movie magic. now i wanna rewatch Ghost Dog. I kind of saw Jarmushes take on Silvas character in that movie. Now all I got to do is watch Manhunt. I hope ive seen this trilogy in order. then again, it sounds like it doesn't really matter!!!

rico is not meh by any means

il boss might be a little tricky, the only good dvd i know of is not Reg1 so you need an all region dvd player. it's also kinda hard to find, xploited doesn't have it in stock anymore and I don't know of other sites that do. I suggest trying torrents or ebay

darkwing as far as i know nobody is actually selling violent police, i got it in a trade with a member of dvd maniacs forum
