Good list. I was gonna say Louis CK, too. Wasn't he supposed to have an HBO series coming soon? Did that get cancelled, or was it just a rumor? I remember hearing folks describe it as "Everybody Loves Raymond, but funny and filthy as a motherfucker," or something similar to that.

1)Chris Rock (no love?)
2)Mitch Hedburg (RIP)
3)Sarah Silverman
4)Paul Mooney
5)Louis CK

Sucks that Mitch died just as he was starting to get popular. Mooney would be the funniest stand up if he'd rework his routine every 3 or 4 years. Dude recycles jokes to no end.

I had a ticket to go see Mitch Hedburg the day he died. so instead of seeing my now deceased favorite comedian ever, i saw THE OPENING GUY FOR BLUE COLLAR COMEDY TOUR.

needless to say i got so drunk I couldn't even decipher the 'jokes'.

The world would be so much better off right now if only you could've been the one that died that night instead of someone like Mitch who was talented, funny, and just overall not a sack of shit.

I figured everyone wasn't mentioning him because it's too obvious of a pick, so I just followed suit.

I just assumed he wanted more non-pervasive comedian recommendations.

From what I've heard HBO is rolling it out next year with Entourage. Not sure when that will be but it is happening. Here is a write up he posted on his web site.

http://www.boston.com/news/globe/magazi ... ily__ties/

Lots of good comics mentioned so far. One of my favorites not mentioned is Doug Stanhope. Funny, filthy, and unique. Dude has a warped take on almost everything. I have all of his cd's and would recommend them all. I just ordered some Mitch Fatel cd's. He's sort of comes off as mildly retarded but has some funny bits. The "Aw shucks" thing makes you think all his jokes will be about Oprah and Gilligans Island scenarios then he starts talking about pussy and porno.

Thanks for the article, and I'll check out that Doug Stanhope guy; he sounds like the type of comedian I'd really like.

Yeah.

I know she's Jewish and a woman, but she's rele funny. No one, except the late Mitch Hedberg, has a delivery as original as hers. The "cute schoolgirl telling AIDS jokes" thing is very endearing.

Name the last time a woman comedian had a movie made based on her stand up.
