I am not including Capote because it's a fairly new film that many of us have not seen, but from what I understand was his best roll to date.
I've added some major rolls and some minor ones such as Red Dragon & SOAW. I understand I did not include all of his work, but this is a solid list. Enough to cast one vote.

Definatly Happiness, but you forgot to mention his role in Nobody's Fool where he plays a cop that gets knocked out by a 75+ Paul Newman.

I just watched Magnolia last night.
I love that movie... long as fuck! but a great movie.
PSH is money... but
I went with Almost Famous... just because I find his character to be so hilarious and fitting of a bitter lunatic rock journalist.

Very hard. I dont know any actor who can make you feel more uncomfortable while watching a move than PSH.
