speaking of H.P. Lovecraft...ChristPuncher wrote:I just watched this HBO short in this class on horror im taking, but I forgot the name. It was based on a H.P. Lovecraft story. The kid rents a room and gets posessed into sacrificing the baby next door by this witch who can travel through dimenisonal planes.
It was pretty damn cool.
i can't believe i forgot:
Re-Animator
Bride of Re-Animator
Beyond Re-Animator
altho a lot of people will argue that the last two weren't all that... i fucking loved them.

Re: Classic Horror Movies
your collegue is a douchebag. psycho is the epitomy of psychological horror, caligari is surrealist, night of the living dead is gore, etcPeeping Tom wrote:so i was discussing movies with an artfag colleague and he told me movies today aare not traditional horror movies but instead pyschological thrillers

Well, all the movies have titles.StormShadow wrote:I'm not even sure what your art-fag's talking about.
He's got movies from the silent era going up to 1968. I'm guessing those are just horror movies that your friend likes. There's not really any kind of thread connecting them that I can see.
Bucket of Blood
Bloodsucking Freaks
Last House on the Left
I like more psychological thrillers though, personally. And how is Nosferatu not a psychological thriller? It sure isn't a gore film.
NOTE: Last House on the Left also has psychologically thrilling elements.

yeah i watched these and besides psycho and land of the dead they all suck
horror movies of the past, because they are dated tend to be more comedic in nature...maybe the audiences fears are also set into a historical context thus new generations can laugh at it just as they would laugh at nuclear bomb duck and cover video's.
they all address issues of the time and while some of those issues exist today they are more accessible and as the mystery beind them fades so to does the horror impact
basically they all blew, cat people blew the worst.
