After owning it for like 4 years I finally finished Pride of Baghdad by BKV today. Fucking hated it, I see now why I could only ever get a few pages in. Dude is a genius but I don't get the hype about that book, it was really corny and heavy handed. I think I'm gonna read the Y: The Last Man series for a third time next. Best comic book ever written.

Can't wait for vol 4 of Saga.

Just read the FIRST book of Vaughn's Y: The Last Man. Glorious. First thing I've read of his and I can tell that this is going to be some next level shit.

Yeah, Y: The Last Man is so good that my dad picked it up on a whim and read through the whole run. It's the only comic I can remember him reading in my 26 years on this planet. (Though I guess someone must've picked out those "Spiderman and His Amazing Friends" VHS for me, and I don't figure it was my mom.)

All of the Vaughn books are quality at bare minimum. When you're done with Y: The Last Man, give Ex-Machina a shot. I really enjoyed The Escapists as well as his primary run on Runaways, and Saga is shaping up to be amazing as well.

I'm just gonna bump the comment I mentioned earlier about Brian K Vaughan and Marcos Martin's The Private Eye. If you like BKV's other stuff, I think you might like this. Personally, I think it's brilliance:

i'm an 80-year old wrapped in the physique of a 31-year old, so i was with ya up until this year, actually. get yourself ComicRack (or some such thing), and it's a pretty enjoyable way to read a comic. i'll keep buying physical copies til the day i keel over, though.

Just finished volumes 1 and 2 of Hawkeye, and it definitely lived up to the hype. It's so different from anything I've read, and the Pizza Dog issue was next level.

Got into that new Moon Knight by Warren Ellis. It's pretty awesome stuff. Only 5 issues on stands right now and I think Ellis is only writing 6 (?) but it's an impressive book.

Nothing is fucking with that Saga though.

I was in Books-a-Million today, wandering among the trades and graphic novels. I stumbled upon Sex Criminals and remembered some of the talk in this thread. For $8, I had to grab it and... well... a book about a sex-fiend librarian with orgasm superpowers, written by Matt Fraction? Into it. The background gags in the porn shop are awesome.

Also, Saga was everything it was cracked up to be. I read through all three trades in one sitting, and immediately regretted blowing through it that quickly. I need more.

Read Sex Criminals recently. I really enjoyed it. I thought the straight to camera narration worked well in it. The sex police are pretty hillarious. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I grabbed #7 today. Not a bad issue, but the series doesn't bowl me over. I trust Fraction, so I'll stick with it.

Picked up the first issue of Chew. Loved it.

Just got an advance reading copy of this through a digital service called NetGalley (for librarians, teachers, and other book-recommender-type-people). I'm about one issue deep so far, and it's pretty dope.

Also, while I'm typically not opposed to reading digital comics, the DRM on this thing makes it absolutely miserable.
