A-Wax

Post by ackbar »

there was another thread about a-wax only a month or so ago.. can't seem to find it tho (bump it if someone can find it)

anyways.. someone/rey fill me in. i know he's from pittsburgh & i know he makes underground bay area mob music. that's about it

how long has he been in the game? affiliations?? what's his best material? what's up with his beef w/ husalah, ap.9, etc.?? is he black? ()
any uploads would be appreciated too.. :gyeah:

Shit.

I had opened this thread thinking that you found the original.

Image
Name: A-Wax
Aliases: Wax-fase, A-Wax Ru, Young Pittsburg
Location: Pittsburg, CA
Favorite Words: Husalah, snitch

- been in the game officially since 2001 with the release of Savage Timez. Spent 5+ years in the pen before deciding to rap.

- no real affiliations to speak of. he's collaborated with a lot of bay area mobb rappers but he's pretty much a loner (as becomes clear when you hear his music)

- his best (or my favorite) material would be The Rat Trap: (Unconditional Thug Pre-Album Mixtape Vol. 2) and his most consistent & cohesive official album that could be suggested is Thug Deluxe from 2004.

- his beef with the Mob Figaz is weird because if you ever saw his posts from the old days on siccness, he would champion the fuck out of the Figz. Reminding people of release dates, starting appreciation threads, etc.

Things went sour when a good amount of Wax's team got locked up over drug charges/ cell phone conversations. It was implied that Hus had something to do with it.

Situation worsened when Hus got caught with work and was allowed time to wrap up his music career before turning himself in. Also the amount work Husalah was caught with and the amount of time received didn't match up to Wax, further fueling his suspicions of Husalah being an informant/ cutting deals.

He plays a hood reporter of sorts. Keeping a running list of rappers whom he's deemed snitches (including BA of 3XKrazy, Mob Figaz affiliate Uzi, & Husalah of course)

Really unique character. His subjects aren't anything new, but all of his content is unique to him due to his vivid narrating, insight, and slick way of stating things.

I'll upload a lot of the music that was in the other thread in here.

most a-wax search results are either youtube videos or message board posts full of nothing but hopeful mob figaz love interests who insist on posting internet death threats in 100% seriousness

The majority of those are early Rob Lo productions. Regional bay area mobb music sound. A lot of people prefer this early work when his flow was hard and aggressive to what he's doing now, but I can dig both. Why Hustle? is amazing music.

Dope from front to back. Whole thing produced by Lev Berlak. Some people weren't feeling the beats/ laid back nature, but it grows on you. Wish him and Lev or him and Dug Infinite would get down for a part II. Also I think "Sure You Did" was the first time he started fuming about Husalah on a record.

Some of my favorite material from him. Summer of '06 this was my shit. It's 2nd in a series of tapes released before the Unconditional Thug album. Both of which I played worlds more than the actual LP. I think he's releasing both tapes as a set in the near future.

A-Wax' people said so from inside the pen. They also told him that Hus made a diss track towards him, which never happened.

Wax reacted off that and made

Cinderella Story - http://www.zshare.net/audio/1376370275fdbc94/

Even after learning his information might be faulty A-Wax refuses to let it go.

I'll probably purchase it regardless off the strength of Cuttin It Up.

I don't really have a good reason.

I've heard their shit, and it's technically not bad. I guess I'm just hard (nh) on the local artists. And I can't stress how much I hate Pittsburg and Antioch. These are two bunk ass towns out in the middle of nowhere. Middle class suburbs where a lot of people who left Oakland and San Francisco went to make a better life for themselves. Every town has problems, but motherfuckers out there want to emulate and be like the very places they got away from.
So it's hard to listen to them talk all this gangsta shit, knowing how fucking fake it is.

It's hypocritcal of me, because I listen to The Game, and older shit like Spice 1. Somehow their fakeness doesn't bother me as much as most of the artists of today. I mean, we all know most of what is said on wax is bullshit, but for some reason I have a problem with this.

Can't fault you guys for liking the Figaz, but it's weird to see people from other states and countries giving a shit about them.
peace,

I'm feelin' Savage Times and Thug Deluxe, especially the former. Though i think if i were checkin' them out blindly i might not like 'em as much if i didn't know this :
He plays a hood reporter of sorts. Keeping a running list of rappers whom he's deemed snitches (including BA of 3XKrazy, Mob Figaz affiliate Uzi, & Husalah of course)
and this :

I'll check out the mixtape thingy sometime since you say it's his best work.

A fascinating little world to immerse yerself in with all these guys.

for awax, if this guy snitched on ur partnas and u so heated over it, than why you resort to using the internet and make songs to get back? how is using a computer for gossip and rumors ur revenge. all uve done is gone on siccness and typed under different names. if you really hood and these were ur partners that went down, than why didnt u clap this guy or get him clapped if ur homies mean so much to u. why you on the internet. i mean, the mob figaz have always been easy to spot, u can run into any of them easily in the bay, including this guy when he was free. so if u wanted it to happen it shouldnt have been a problem. no onez really seen u anywhere around the bay. ur really embarrising urself with this. the internet says one thing, the streets say another, peace.

Where's Lavar at? More to the point, where the fuck is Ackbar's Mob Figaz thread at?

Anyway, Rey, what are yer thoughts on the Shower Posse album (i vaguelly recall you cussin' the label who released it and one of the guests who appeared throughout or sumthin'?) and what's the deal on that 2nd disc exactly?

Also, could you possibly hook a gentleman up with an mp3 of Bouty Boyz from that AP.9 & Husalah album?

arghh.

The Shower Posse album was a concept thought up by Jack where he and Hus would go half on an album consisting of riddims and reggae stylings.

There's a Bay Area record label who buys a bunch of leftover tracks and slaps Mob Figaz faces on the front and sells it to capitalize off their buzz.

They did it to that "Shower Posse" album that's out. The real one never came to fruition. Hence my distaste for FriscoStreetShow. He's been responsible for a couple good projects, but that unmastered/ thrown together/ random Mog Figa polaroid shit is foul.

Damn. That sounds dire and like somethin' i should avoid. I do like the 2 songs i've heard from it, though (Live Life Illegal and Murder Somebody).

They never made that concept album (which I think would've been dope). "Shower Posse" is just a bunch of unreleased songs from Jack and Hus with that name slapped on it. Same with the two Husalah albums, which is fine if you've never heard that stuff before.
