we had enough beats to go around; however a few cats were very adamant about using the same beat. being that it wasn't feasible to do a collabo because of various styles, we figured we'd just allow the same beat to be rocked by multiple people.Blockhead wrote:this shit is dope. props to all involved.
a question though, what's the story behind that one beat being used three times?
next time, if there is one, hopefully we'll get enough submitted beats the rappers like so we don't run into any repetitious stuff.
in this case i think it's kinda cool to hear a track being rocked differently by 3 rappers.

Of course, straight to the Galvatron joint. Dope.
Liking the Godamus and Ardamus tracks the most so far.
Blockhead and Alaska shit is pretty cool, I like it.
Everything is pretty good on here, though.
I like that beat that was used three times, but now I'm already done with it.
Maybe cause it was used three times? And I've listened to the comp 3 times,
so I heard that beat 9 times in the past two hours and don't wanna hear it for
a long time, now. It is what it is, fuck it.
That dirtybird beat is dope, too.

damn this is dope.
godamus had a dope concept and great track.
Alaska came with the fast raps, but I can't help being dissapointed by the fact that there's no Wind to trade off with him.
open mike sounds like a sober devin the dude. dope track.
big fan of big scen, dude is smooth as hell.
ardamus was nice too.
selfsays sounds SO MUCH like breeze brewin it's scary, dope.
nathan was a little boring, but not bad by any means.
Galvy killed it, dope flow, funny ass lines.
I don't know, Intuition should be signed to Rhymesayers and touring the country already. Dude is ready. The beat is nasty too.
Stik Figa has been my favorite rapper on here for a long while, after this track, he still is.
good shit guys

The beat that got used 3 times is really really nice. I understand why everybody wanted it.
Intuition's song is really nice. There's just a real polish to his stuff.
Godamus is a really great writer. The stuff he's done with his reconceptualized version of Passing Me By and Stress is just great. Just really smart, well executed stuff.
I don't really dislike Ardamus, but I wish that he's change up his flow a bit. On the EP he posted, there was some variety, but on a lot of his other stuff it's all a bit too similar.
Liked most of the rest, need to listen more to really give any meaningful thoughts.

i would like to add my two cents on this.
with regards to the 3 songs with the same beats, that is entirely on me. I think i was the most adament about putting all three on the project. When we first started the project I sent out the beats with the idea of whoever made the best song on a beat got the beat. So everyone got a grouping of beats that i felt would work well with their styles. This obviously wasnt the best approach for a number of reasons, but the most glaring was that people were all gravitating towards the same beats. However the people that submitted over that beat were the first people to get songs in, and i felt they shouldnt be punished for being punctual and quite frankly being dope.
We were going to scrap the project but realized that if we took a difference approach of letting people team up naturally it would work better, and it did. that said we still wanted to keep all of the tracks that were submitted by lurkel, galvy and self. They are all really good, and all approach the beat in a unique way. So if there are any complaints about that it should be directed at me.
though it took some time and changing our approach to get this done I am really excited with how well this came out. Everyone did great work. Im really impressed with the talent on this board and I thank each and everyone of you for working as hard as you did and for the quality of your work, on a project that you could have easily mailed it in on. I know jay feels the same way.
I also have a few ideas for other projects going forward geared around the philaproject idea. I want to speak with jay about them but if he is down maybe we can do some really interesting stuff over the next year.
again, thanks to all involved. I hope everyone enjoyed the experience and i hope everyone that hears it finds at the very least a few gems that they take away from it.
