I agree the twins are right around an 85 win team in that division. If Liriano can actually pitch well again and Baker/Slowey pitch to their potential you have a pretty decent rotation.keL wrote:opening day lineup

glenn perkins' shoulder is all better. neshak is back from tommy jon surgury.
liriano was throwing 96 mph in winter ball and was the best pitcher in the championship. obviously is was against inferior competition, but i'll take a flyer on him a little earlier than usual on draft day

damn, how could i forget jj hardy?Gilbert Subpoenas wrote:The twins are always good for at least 85 wins imo. that is an extremely well managed ball club.
there is no way punto plays over jj hardy. unless he got hurt or something.
infield will be: morneau, orlando hudson, hardy, punto
our best prospect is danny valencia, 3B, should make the team but he isnt ready to start

I love him already. He looked like he was in mid-season form on the first day of spring training, painting the corners, I don't think he threw a single ball in the middle of the plate.Quotashun wrote:Just bizarre seeing the highlights of Doc in the Philly pinstripes raping the Yankees as usual today.
It still blows my mind that he's a Phillie and that a player of his caliber would make Philadelphia his #1 destination of choice.
Our other big offseason acquisition looked mad shaky today though. Polanco overthrew first base once and also dropped a popup that got caught in the wind.

life is a total fag. i guess i can try to spin it and say nathan's raggy arm cost us the series against the yankees therefore nathan caused us to exit from the playoffs?
we got the side armed neeshek coming off of tj surgury.
or rauch might be able to close??
jose mijares would be my pick, but the guy eats too much and is borderline obese

Torri Hunter: "Black Latino Players are imposters"
PHOENIX -- Los Angeles Angels center fielder Torii Hunter insists he meant no harm toward Latino players when he recently referred to them as "impostors" while discussing the number of African-Americans in the major leagues.
Hunter's original comments were made two weeks ago in one of a series of USA Today roundtables about baseball and published in Wednesday's editions.
"What troubles me most was the word 'impostors' appearing in reference to Latin American players not being black players. It was the wrong word choice, and it definitely doesn't accurately reflect how I feel and who I am," Hunter posted on his Angels-sponsored blog Wednesday afternoon.
"What I meant was they're not black players; they're Latin American players. There is a difference culturally. But on the field, we're all brothers, no matter where we come from, and that's something I've always taken pride in: treating everybody the same, whether he's a superstar or a young kid breaking into the game. Where he was born and raised makes no difference."
Hunter has long been known as one of baseball's sincere, good guys.
In the report, Hunter was quoted as saying: "People see dark faces out there, and the perception is that they're African-American. They're not us. They're impostors. Even people I know come up and say: 'Hey, what color is Vladimir Guerrero? Is he a black player?' I say, 'Come on, he's Dominican. He's not black.' ...
"As African-American players, we have a theory that baseball can go get an imitator and pass them off as us. It's like they had to get some kind of dark faces, so they go to the Dominican or Venezuela because you can get them cheaper. It's like, 'Why should I get this kid from the South Side of Chicago and have Scott Boras represent him and pay him $5 million when you can get a Dominican guy for a bag of chips?' ... I'm telling you, it's sad," he said.

i've heard everything from liriano to going and getting kerry wood.
there is a very small chance nathan might play. he is going to get treatment, rehab, and try to throw in a month. it's a significant tear, but he's holding off on surgury to see if he can some how play.

Phillies discuss Pujols for Howard trade
It's the sort of thing that is much more likely to happen in fantasy baseball than in real life, but according to sources, an idea has been kicked around the Phillies' organization internally, with discussions about proposing a swap of slugger Ryan Howard for St. Louis superstar Albert Pujols.
It's not fully clear whether the Phillies actually have approached the Cardinals with the idea, and even if St. Louis were to seriously consider such an offer, executives with the Cardinals would have to swallow very hard before dealing Pujols, a player widely regarded as the best in the sport.

LOL, would never happen. Even though Howard is from St. Louis, the Cardinals would have zero interest in trading Pujols.keL wrote:Phillies discuss Pujols for Howard trade
