The Official Raider Klan Thread
Throwback rap representing an era worth recalling.
Lil Ugly Mane is from Richmond. He is going to get grouped in with the Spaceghostpurrp crowd/movement thing, as SGP included "You Aint From My Hood" on his new thing. If that whole deal gets popular ("popular" these days meaning pitchfork/the fader writes something about it), I hope he gets some of the shine.
Playaz Circle is my shit right now, with "Tell Dem Boyz I'm A Skeleton" being my jam of the week.
For some gay reason I can't embed from bandcamp, but go there and listen.
http://liluglymane.bandcamp.com/
Let's talk. Shitty impression of good stuff? Refreshing Gangsta Rap? Amateur Fetishism or true skillz? Something worth listening to, or just a second rate Spaceghostpurrp?
Coming Soon:
By the way, dude is totally white as fuck...

Here's the SGP version of "You Aint From My Hood"

I guess we can make this a Spaceghostpurrp thread too (unless thats too hipsterish. I honestly don't know if all of this is hipster stuff or not, but I am going to err on the side of caution for now).

The two NASA Underground tapes are cool too. A little more Houston mixed in with the Memphis.

This shit is pertinent to my interests.
Blackland Radio is the shit. Deserves its own thread.blastmaster wrote:http://www.datpiff.com/SPACEGHOSTPURRP- ... 51911.htmlEcho Leader wrote:Where do I start with this Spaceghostpurpp shit?

what does everyone think of the SGP/soulja boy beef that's begun to bubble??
if you haven't been paying attention.. SGP's entire style is predicated upon paying homage to early-to-mid 90s memphis g-rap. so his flows/production aren't exactly new.. but he interjected them w/ the "swag" movement & basically started to gain momentum by being the first of a new generation to make that particular sort of lo-fi thug music
then soulja boy released this song..
<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cJgZWyPwkgk?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cJgZWyPwkgk?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
which is a kingpin skinny pimp song..
<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/STpUUuiMzuw?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/STpUUuiMzuw?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
can you steal someone's swag when you're both paying homage to someone else? but it's also not the first time soulja boy has seemed to latch onto a younger rapper's shit as they're starting to bubble. it's hard for me to hate on soulja boy b/c he makes great songs.. but him being the bigger of the two artists, maybe he should've reached out to SGP? it seems a little coincidental. i bet there's no way SGP isn't on his radar
also.. i'd imagine SGP/ASAP Rocky have been making a lot of songs together. if photos on fb mean anything.. they seem to be hanging out a hell of a lot

Soulja Boy has been rapping like Kingpin Skinny Pimp on and off for over a year now. This is nothing new or SGP-related.

Soulja might not be the most innovative rapper on the planet, but anytime he (or anybody) wants to unearth a Kingpin Skinny Pimp beat and give it a second life then that is his (or their) god given right. You canגt own a style that you yourself borrowed.

Soulja a better rapper than SGP? Based on what criteria?
I'm def biased as his Blackland Radio mixtape is my fave release this year and I'm rooting for him more than anyone else out right now. I think his impassioned delivery and general creep vibe is infectious and I can't really think of too many rappers out there with that level of charisma and vehemence in their voice married with a personal, warped revisionism of the 90s.. to say he's got a lot more to say with his music than Soulja right now, for me at least, would be an understatement.

but I do agree that him e-thuggin at SB this hard makes him look really bad. the ironic thing about it is that this video probably would have just gotten swept under the rug in a few days time until SB dropped another vid. Swagjackin or not, it wouldnt have garnered much buzz. But because of SGP not letting it go and going on his social media crusade, this video has way more spotlight on it than it would have ever gotten.
