I don't know if it's inherently a better album but it is a much more enjoable listen in my opinion. The beats bang and Casual just goes off on every one, sounding hungry and inspired. Saafir's left-field antics sometimes wear thin.

Fair enough Thun, the left field shit was why I enjoyed and still enjoy Boxcar Sessions, Fear Itself is a dope album though.

Both albums have aged really well. Listen to Boxcar Sessions now more than I ever did when it came out. Has matured nicely IMO. That said, I still prefer the raw sound of Casuals album.
great albums. listened to fear itself about a week ago will go to Boxcar Sessions now :)
both rappers have a very distinctive styles
all in all the production on fear itself might have been a little bit better but i never really could wrap my head around how dope Saafirs flow was.
i think i have to go with Boxcar by a slight margin. i think i listened to it more over the years.
btw am i the only one who thinks chains is one of the best songs on fear itself? that loop/beat is so off the wall and Casual rips it with one of his best topical lyrics from the album
Casual takes this by a mile for me... I just loved everything coming out of the Hiero camp at that time, and of all the albums this is one that I can still go back to and enjoy front to back.
I could never get into Boxcar Sessioins, for some reason.... and it's album I've gone back to a few times over the years whenever I hear it talked about, and I still don't really get it.

Boxcar Sessions is one of the most progressive Rap albums ever.
word Emp...I love it and was blown away when I first put the CD on the stereo.
I actually hated it when I first heard it. The beats were weird, his flow was weird. I was expecting another Souls, Del or Casual album, so it got shelved. Must have been 15 at the time, and it wasn't until years later that I started developing patience and a taste for more bugged out hip hop and revisited it. Music For The Advanced Listener, yo.

Casual's Fear Itself is way better and it's not even remotely close.
im sure you're not the only one but you're still wrong
Lol nah Saafir is a complete hack. The off-beat flow is terrible, his delivery, his voice... just terrible. Well, his lyrics aren't bad...but everything besides that...

i think he has a great voice. understand that his rapstyle isn't for everyone but think its very dope. to each their own i guess.
can't get down with him rapping a little bit more traditional either?

keep in mind that Magneto also thinks Hitman Howie Tee is a wack producer so...

SHADE!
I did like the work he did with Lil Vicious....
But Saafir....garbage. The track that Hul posted with Chino, I used to like that track, and Saafir was more tolerable on there, but in general, he is a complete hack.
Howie T did some nice beats for Special Ed and yes also Chubb Rock certainly not wack but in the grand scheme of things he's a very forgettable producer of his era
