The Official CYE Documentary Thread

Post by Sucka Ducka »

I did a search and I didn't find a thread discussing good documentaries - figured CYE could use an official thread. I've been watching a lot of them lately, and I figured there is probably others who watch a lot of them and know of some good ones. To me, I think it would be helpful for documentaries to have their own thread as there are so many obscure yet great ones and they kind of stand in a class of their own.

Tonight I'm getting ready to check out GASLAND and maybe a NORML LIFE.

The best one I've seen recently was

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC INSIDE: Undercover in North Korea

<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QQXfMMHV8FM?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QQXfMMHV8FM?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

The VICE GUIDE TO TRAVEL and the Vice North Korea documentaries were even better. The Liberia VICE GUIDE TO TRAVEL was :ohsh:
http://www.vice.com/video

I also recently watched Heavy Metal in Baghdad which was awesome too.

Ultimately, the film unveils a explicit yet personal story of the trials of a succeeding talent, inspirational to any artist.

this is the big documentary thread that we had for reference.
http://www.philaflava.com/forum/viewtop ... umentaries
but that was a a few years ago so it's probably time to start fresh.

I just downloaded
Image
which I'm pretty sure is one of the ones that Dap just posted

I don't really watch that many documentaries, but normally check out everything that the big names do (Werner Herzog, Errol Morris, etc).

the one about Stress that's on netflix right now is quite interesting. I also watched a few parts of the China one on there, I believe it's NatGeo, really cool. Gonzo was also really great as was Radiant Child, which I thought would've been posted by now, but I didn't see it...

I can't believe I forgot style wars. Pretty much one of my favorite documentaries ever.

It is really not a documentary, but it was pretty informative to say the least. I watched this 6 part video some guy did of the Boba Fett rocket shooting action figure and all other Boba Fett related action figures on youtube. I was always pissed that my Boba Fett couldn't shoot a rocket. Here it is if anyone is interested: I would say watch the first 3. Parts 4, 5 & 6 are more about the new Boba Fett action figures from his new found popularity in the 90's.

She wore rubber boots in the house cause she said there was electricity in everything and thought there were demons in the walls. She also thought that the government planted a bug in her pussy and various other crazy stories. METH.
