No real theme here and a pretty random selection.

interesting...

i'd go with

1. lost highway... which is a minor lynch in the grand scheme but still has a lot going for it. the soundtrack is really the only really bad thing about it. in the context of a lesser director this may have been a career peak, then again i can't think of another director who could've made it

2. bad lieutenant... which i appreciate the shit out of but still can never fully embrace, the morality and religious themes are way too heavy handed

3. santa sagre ... which is a minor jodorowsky nowhere near the level of el topo and holy mountain but still fun

4. natural born killers ... which is and always was too ridiculous to be taken as serious social commentary, but is a top notch entry into the 90s cult canon

5. Happiness ... which is a hilarious comedy and an acting clinic disguised as chronicles of dids

Haven't seen all but a bunch of movies that are great despite their flaws.

Gun to my head I'm going with Lost Highway but could vote for Bad Lieutenant or Leaving Las Vegas and be fine with it.

Natural Born Killers, but Leaving Las Vegas is a VERY close second.
