Official Wu and Wu-Filliates Rarities and Demos Thread

Post by Verge »

post them if you got them.

I figured we've had enough Wu related threads lately, lets just get everything Wu and Wu related including Wu Filliates and make this thread something fan fucking tastic.

So many demos out there too and I'm not talking about those god awful sound quality 36 Chambers demos.

good idea, i got pretty much anything Wu including every credited RZA production ever released and much, much more. been my favorite group together with DITC for a long time so i'm very grateful to that crew for putting me onto hip-hop with "36 Chambers" which in so many ways changed my life (yeah i know that sounds like a clich

"Tical 0: The Prequel" was released in 2004, executive produced by Puff Daddy and The Hitmen and is generally considered the worst Wu solo of all time. RZA only produced one song on there, the incredible "The Turn" ft. Raekwon. according to Meth, he and RZA had recorded like 15 songs together for the album but Lyor Cohen rejected the whole thing and assigned The Hitmen to help Meth out.. goo call there fucking Def Jam :P here's one of the joints RZA did for the album that was cut, in full CDQ with no DJ shouts (you might've heard it on J-Love tapes with an added LA The Darkman verse):

check out this amazing Raekwon joint from 2003, for some unbelivable reason cut from the horrible "Lex Diamond Story". song is called "Spit Fire", CDQ/no DJ:

the amazing "Wu-Tang Cream Team Line Up" appeared on Funk Flex's Mixtape Vol. III with a sick ass DJ Scratch beat being verbally assaulted by Raekwon, INS, Meth, Polite and the legendary Killa Sin. i've had a real hard time finding a full version without any Flex bombs but here's a 320 kbps rip from the actual CD-single.

mad thanks to all the brothers @ the Wu Corp forums for the three bangers above. more on the way :)

Does anyone know the name of the track Raekwon did with Havoc (Havoc ft Raekwon), which sampled an old Indian song? The hook is 'All that money is us', or something. I never found out the real name and would love to find the original release if it ever came out, for the instrumental. I know the sample used though, it's a famous song in some parts of the world.

speaking of Bulletproof wallets, and Supreme Clientele, I gotta wonder if there's one shred of truth at all in Lord Superb's rants:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eUVNXn1 ... ure=relmfu
I'm sure there's truth in a lot of what he says but, lol, i dunno man. He mentions he's Cream Team so i wonder if he was on this Cream team EP?
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Cream-Te ... se/1190243
pretty sure serch4beatz upped the full rip but apparently its only RnB crap on one side anyways:

Maybe this common knowledge but there's a version of GK's Daytona 500 that doesn't sample Nautilus. Anyone know where it's from? SnB played it a couple of times in 96 but no one seemed to be able to definitively identify it.

Is the thread based on songs specifically or do videos, freestyles and interviews count also? If so I've got some rarities from The Wu up on YouTube, Soundcloud & Dailymotion.

For Wu songs I try keep it based to physical purchases rather than mp3, but if it's something that played only on radio I'm happy to get the mp3. When I look at certain catalogs of Hip Hop, The Wu is one of those groups that I can't bear to just download their work. Most of it has been released in some physical form so I try and find it that way. I look forward to seeing what people have for the thread.

Maybe the worst move by a label executive in history. I can only imagine what that conversation must've been like. "I cahn't fucking sell this records. The kids don't want to hear RZA beat. They want the club bangers. They want the How High Mef, not the M.E.T.H.O.D. Mef. So you go to studio with Hitmen. You make songs for the white bitches, yes?"

I wonder if Def Jam is holding onto the shelved album, waiting to drop it like 5-10 years down the road as some kind of "long lost" retrospect. I can't see any other reason why they wouldn't cash in on that NOW. As long as they promote it for a few months it should sell plenty, don't you think?

There was another version posted on here, but I dunno if it's from 96.

Figured I'd just throw this here. My first T.R.O.Y. blog post is up. No music but some very interesting/funny interviews with the RZA in character as Bobby Digital and some other B.O.B.B.Y. video footage: http://www.thetroyblog.com/2012/04/07/b ... -in-video/

I have a ton of loose affiliate tracks lying around. One of my favorite killa beez who I think is pretty criminally slept on is Darkim Be Allah. Here are a few of his tracks:

You Will See

I'm not sure what, if anything, this is officially from. Sorry for the incredibly low bitrate.

Reminiscence (prod. by Scarcity)

This is a newer track that is on Scarcity's Back to Business album.

^ hell yeah Versive, i fucking love Darkim Be Allah's shit.. super underrated and super talented emcee, i wish he had more material out there. he's a dope producer too, he was actually an official Wu-Elementz at one point - even produced The RZA solo song "12 Jewelz" on the 2nd Gravediggaz album. he was of course part of the duo A.I.G. (Allah is God) with rapper AllahWise who was featured on the original Killa Beez album "The Swarm" with one of my favorite songs there called "Another Bronx War Story" (Darkim produced that as well).

i remember around 1998 when Mp3.com was just starting, Darkim sold a dope EP called "Live From The Lab: Take 1" which i still have somewhere. he was signed to Wu-Tang Records and had actually recorded a solo album for the label around '99 called "Truth And Dare" or something along the lines of that. the sad thing is that the masters were stolen from the studio, resulting in the album being lost forever. the same thing happened to Royal Fam's "Black Castle" which was stolen at the same time; some of it got bootlegged as an official looking CD called "Yesterday, Today iz Tomorrow".

it's great that Darkim Allah is back doing music now, the 2005 album with AIG called "Fame Labs Presents" blew me away. i probably listened to that front-to-back three or four times a day when it first dropped. any fan of NY hip-hop should hear this, it's out of print and was never widely distributed so here's the link for y'all. nod your head to this my brothers :) especially the two last tracks are out of this world but the whole LP is more than playable.

01. "The Anthem"
02. "Next Of Kin" [prod. by D.B. Allah]
03. "Strokin'" [prod. by D.B. Allah]
04. "Don't Stop"
05. "Block Famous"
06. "Time to Eat"
07. "The Reunion"
08. "Phone Call Skit"
09. "The Phone Call"
10. "Unbreakable Code"
11. "Where Does That Leave Me?"
12. "Life & Music"

all songs on the album were produced by a super talented producer named Shakim Allah, besides tracks 2 and 3. i haven't heard much else from him but he is credited for "Uprising" by Killah Priest which is one of my favorite KP joints this side of the new millenium.

haha props on that Bobby Digital videos, never seen that cartoon before - it gotta be official cuz its RZA's real voice. i remember picking up "In Stereo" when it dropped and not really getting it although i thought it was pretty good. today i absolutely love it, to me it's a true Wu classic - the beats, the rhymes, the guests, the concepts, everything... it's the final fully RZA produced solo in the first round of solos although it was released after "Wu-Tang Forever", at least for me i count it along with "Tical", "Return to 36 Chambers", "Liquid Swords", "Ironman", "Cuban Linx" and then "in Stereo". i cut it off after track 17 and skip the bonus tracks most of the time, that's way it's perfect and if you look in the booklet after track 17 it says "FIN" meaning that the album closes with "Domestic Violence" and the four last songs (alhtough tracks like "Lab DrunK" is slamming) is bonus tracks by RZA rather than Bobby Digital. definitely RZA's best solo album by far!

he also shot an one hour movie about the Bobby Digital character that the music on "in Stereo" was loosely based on. it has yet to be officially released but there was a screening at a Staten Island film festival some time last year so it should pop up soon enough. would love to see that bc i bet it's HILARIOUS hahaha.

he did direct a short movie called "Bobby Digital: Domestic Violence" that was released on VHS tape back in early '99. very strange film, check it out (i can get a download link for it if anyone wants it, but it's really not that good so i'm not gonna go to trouble to upload it otherwise):

Word, I mentioned that a couple of times in the post. Glad you enjoyed the cartoon. Definitely a weird find. Don't sleep on those interviews either. He's fully in character, saying some totally ridiculous shit. SMOKED OUT

For more Bob Digi video, check out the movie sticky. I posted like 8 music videos.

You ever hear the God in the Ghetto album? I think it's from 05 or 06. Darkim's best work IMO. You can listen to some of it and cop for only $5 here: http://www.famelabsmusic.com/

Sinuhe's Impasse

Another one of my favorite Bees is Bronze Nazareth. This might be his oldest Wu-affiliated relase, as I'm not sure if he and Kevlaar 7 were official when Death's Birth originally dropped in 02. This is from 03.

These guys are very loosely affiliated w/ the W. Basically, they're some cats from Jersey who are down with Allah Real, a singer who appeared on Birth of a Prince, The Pretty Toney Album and No Said Date. I remember enjoying this mixtape a lot when it dropped.

Nice work guys. For learning about the material of affiliates that I overlooked before I found that chambermusik.com is good for studying past releases. Back in the late 90's/early 2000 the wave of Wu Tang material from affiliates seemed so overwhelming that I couldn't keep up with it all, but when listening to chambermusik's audio interviews with people like GP Wu, 4th Disciple, Y-Kim and others, it helps me to absorb their catalogs better.

Here's a freestyle by Shabazz the Disciple in 97 at a radio station in my neighborhood called WHCR (Harlem Community Radio)

http://dl.soundowl.com/365v.mp3

<object width="320" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NlywtgR-3kM?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NlywtgR-3kM?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="320" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

I made a compilation of radio freestyles about a year ago to focus on the special time of mid-90's NYC radio when Wu Tang artists spit over beats by Premo, DITC, Marley & Pete Rock. Stream and download it here:

sorry if this has been asked before but i got a question about the radio one freestyle from the uk where they argue and shit.

was that actually how it was broadcast or was that just a bootleg and it was edited down for broadcast? seems weird to be having all the background shit and arguing aired on the radio.

I've been trying to find a song that was posted on here a few years ago. It was by a Wu-affiliate (a solo MC) and someone posted a link to it on the artist's MySpace page.

All I remember about the song is that it was slow, sounded like it could have been produced by RZA (but wasn't) and during each chorus the MC mentioned the word "Mephistopheles" a couple of times. <--If you know it, that last piece of info will enable you to ID it for me, cos you'll know exactly what I mean.

Hey yall, I'm working on a follow-up article on Bobby Digital for the TROY blog and could use some perspective on the initial critical reception Bobby Ditial in Stereo and Digital Bullet received. I can only find a few scattered reviews. Can anyone point me to the Source or XXL reviews from back then or recall off hand what rating these albums received?

Or if you could just talk about what the general fan response was, that would be helpful. I didn't even check this album out until years later, so I can't speak on it authoritatively myself.

This is not an integral part of the article (will probably just be a footnote actually), but I'd like to refer to something other than a wack Pitchfork review if I can.

Personally I am not overly interested in going back to some of the Wu affiliates because so many of them just made second and third rate Wu copycat shit that was forgotten as soon as it was released, of course there were exceptions...but I always wondered how many were actually affiliated and not just riding the :wutang: name.
