I really want to like this show but this pretty much sums it up for me too... Writing and character development isadmiral wrote:This show is such a fucking jumbled mess. I'm hate-watching at this point
Re: Ray Donovan INew showtime series)
not sure if i'm in the majority here or not but I think its SLOWLY getting better. still has tons of issues and inconsistencies in tone and execution but I'm not as bothered as I was by the first couple episodes
Re: Ray Donovan INew showtime series)
I'm glad I made a good call on this earlier because easily the plot and the characters got better with each episode. James Woods making an appearance was .

Totally agree, and now that I know that the Bunchy character freestyled on the Halftime show as MC DIZ, im enjoying it even more.ardamus wrote:I'm glad I made a good call on this earlier because easily the plot and the characters got better with each episode. James Woods making an appearance was .

I spotted him on that Halftime anniversary vid.
So E might even have a recording of poor Bunchy behind the mic-stand? Oh the folly

Where does this go in season two? Is it just gonna be another round of Ray and Mickey?

Re: Ray Donovan (new Showtime series)
I enjoyed this series. It had some rough patches but finished strong. Ray needs to let it fucking go already. Mickey ain't going anywhere, shit he makes this show worthwhile. I can see this becoming very Entourage-like in the near future because the writing is decent at best. But I enjoy most of the characters and think it has potential. I'm just a little sick of Ray bitching about how shitty a father he had. He isn't much better but if I was married to a ginger like that I'd probably be shitty too.
Now THIS show is 3rd tier, certainly not BB. It's kinda in the same tier as your Californications and early Entourage. Entertaining, that's all.

Couple story lines going forward will be Ray v. Mickey: round 2, the nurse deciding whether to rat on the family for the death of the priest, and Bunchy fighting the didsrape urges

had no idea this was back on. a very luke-warm season premiere. the new actors like big bank hank and are awesome tho.

Re: Ray Donovan (new Showtime series)
Have not seen last nights ep, but the first two were complete trash. The show completely jumped the shark and got wild lazy with their writing.

Last episode was big, but I just don't like where the majority of the characters are. They need to hit reset.
