Great cast. Looks weird as hell. Gonna have to shell out for the premium bud before I watch this.

Looks great. Reminds me a bit of Snowpiercer except it takes place in a skyscraper.

Re: High-Rise (Dir. Ben Wheatley, Hiddleston, JG Ballard)
this leaked,
there's definitely a style over substance thing happening here, and i'm not sure how people who haven't read the book will react to it (there isn't really much exposition or explanation for what's happening), which would probably explain the somewhat mixed reviews. but I dug it, it's a strong slice of pulpy dystopian weirdness with some genuinely inspired moments. big step up for Wheatley, it's easily his most polished work yet. to his credit, the best moments in the movie come from the script and his direction, stuff that is not specifically rooted in Ballard's source material.

I liked this film up until the last third where everything got extra weird. I think the general criticisms of this are mostly valid but at the same time there is a lot to enjoy.
Reminds me a bit of Cosmopolis which I didn't like much.

Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

Wheatley punching above his weight.
Once all the violent chaos rapidly kicked off, it surprisingly got dull.

based on what you guys wrote and convos I've had with others, this really ended up hurting the movie. there is barely any context provided for how or why the building descends into violence and without that it's hard to get into it.drizzle wrote:and i'm not sure how people who haven't read the book will react to it (there isn't really much exposition or explanation for what's happening),
