Strongly debating whether to either watch it or Victor Frankenstein over the weekend.

FWIW Twich compared Victor Frankenstein to a Hammer movie in the sense that it respects the source well enough but still has fun with it

The reviews I've read so far have been pretty mixed, but troubled productions are hardly a turn off for me.

Definitely picked up a The Horror of Frankenstein vibe from the trailer, along with the nice Young Frankenstein reference. That has me sold already along with Radcliffe and Gatiss' appreciation for this type of gothic material.

February could be a promising month for movies instead of your usual tax write-offs. Latest trailer for The Witch has so much potential.

And here's The Conjuring 2's trailer, set in my hometown this time around and based on the Enfield poltergeist legend.

Had no idea Cabin Fever was even being remade:

Other than Deputy Wilson being a woman, this looks almost identical to Roth's original film.

Wasn't sure about it at first, but Southbound's trailer has piqued my interest.

Usually avoid most media buzz, especially when a largely unheard movie gets dubbed 2016's The Babadook (probably because it's foreign), but if the rest of vibe of Under the Shadow matches this clip, I'm there:

And I've been sitting on the potentially trashy Jeruzalem for a while. Kind of reminds me of As Above, As Below which I unexpectedly liked:

Might watch it later this week. Bound to be better than that Martyrs remake at least.

Interesting critique of The Witch, implying it's partly a pro-Christian conservative cautionary tale about the dangers of leaving the church with a 'the preachers in Salem were right' kicker. I've seen the same sentiment in other reviews too (Village Voice just knee jerked against the movie automatically because of it)

That's funny, because it was sent to, and heavily endorsed by The Satanic Temple lol

Good movie tho! Pretty fucking scary. And baby girl, who I had unpure thoughts about and felt guilty cuz i thought she was like 13 turns out to be like 19! I hope she has a very long, strong ( :pause: ) lucrative career ahead of her.

Latest trailer for Asia's answer to Freddy Vs Jason - Sadako Vs Kayako.

Surprised anyone in Japan still has a VHS player, to be honest.

Never underestimate the Japanese for fetishising retro-technology.

In Harajuku there are stores which only sell movies on VHS/laser disc, stores which only sell obsolete stereo equipment, stores dedicated to defunct gaming systems etc etc.

I'm pretty excited about the upcoming Leatherface by Maury and Bustillo. Thats going to take a while though.

Not sure if I trust Balaguero completely but this looks very fun:

Also this:

Basically two zombiefilms though.

Trying to find the title of a movie that came out and had it's own thread in here. I believe it was a young girl who was out getting revenge on people who had raper her or killed her family. I distinctly remember a scene where she rings a doorbell and once the door open she blasts a family with a shotgun.

@ CQ - Don't think Jaume Balaguero has anything to do with Summer Camp. For what it's worth, I trust him a lot more than those fuckwits who currently hold the rights to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise - even with Maury & Bustillo helming the new one.

Balaguero is the "executive producer" - thought he was directing it.

Did you see Among the Living by M&B?

^ Sorry, dude, didn't see your question until now. Nope, not seen Among the Living.

The Woods seems to be attracting a bit of buzz lately, and there's a rumour going around that it might be connected to The Blair Witch Project in some way.

Trailer looks like every generic Found Footage movie to me, but the film might be worth a shot since it's helmed by Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest).

Also, Southbound turned out to be pretty good.

I want to check it out.

Saw the film Extinction directed by Vivas who made one of my favorite horrors of the last five years, Kidnapped http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3467412/?ref_=nv_sr_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It was a cool character-driven monster/zombiefilm but rather tame and a bit ordinary compared to his completely crazy debutpicture.

Ive been waiting to see Night Fare for a year now and its finally out next week.

Extinction was kind of underwhelming for me. Fox was good, though.

Watched it last night.

Fan of Mike Flanagan's previous films and Hush didn't disappoint. Both leads were really great.

One of Blumhouse's better releases.

yeah, i went into it without any knowledge and picked it because the guy on the poster had a kewl mask.
so when he took it off I was all like wat? You never show the 'monster' this early. But hey, it worked.
Probably my favorite horror since It Follows. Apparently Stephen King is a big fan.
