Fargo S3

Can't find the old threads, merge if you can

New season premieres April 19th

Set in 2010, the third installment of Fargo centers on “Emmit” and his slightly younger brother “Ray Stussy” (Ewan McGregor). Emmit, the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, sees himself as an American success story, whereas Ray is more of a cautionary tale. Forever living in his more successful brother’s shadow, Ray is a balding and pot-bellied parole officer with a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt – and he blames his brother. Their sibling rivalry follows a twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters and cut-throat competitive bridge. Carrie Coon stars as “Gloria Burgle,” the steady chief of the local police department. A newly divorced mother, Gloria is trying to understand the new world around her, where people connect more intimately with their phones than with the people around them. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Ray’s girlfriend, “Nikki Swango,” a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge. David Thewlis stars as “V.M. Vargas,” a mysterious loner and true capitalist whose bosses plan to partner with Emmit, whether “The Parking Lot King” likes it or not.

Ewan McGregor as Emmit and Ray Stussy
Carrie Coon as Gloria Burgle
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Nikki Swango
Jim Gaffigan as Donny Mashman
David Thewlis as V.M. Vargas
Michael Stuhlbarg as Sy Feltz
Scoot McNairy as Maurice LeFay
Shea Whigham as Moe Dammick
Karan Soni as Dr. Homer Gilruth
Fred Melamed as Howard Zimmerman
Thomas Mann as Thaddeus Mobley
Hamish Linklater as Larue Dollars

This show has the best character names of anything on TV, easily.

Looking forward to watching McGregor and the gawd Stuhlbarg finish each other's sentences throughout the season.
dude who plays the parolee is always good- sorry to see he won't be in future episodes

good start... love the core story of dueling McGregors but not sure about the auxillary stuff like the loansharks and Pops, we'll see how all that goes. the casting/acting is so good though that I don't even care, this is a 'i can watch these people read the phone book' type of thing

did you watch Halt, and Catch Fire? Killing Them Softly?

Scoot McNairy is dope in everything he does.

there was def a point during the 1st episode I was like "nah im starting to not care too much about the plot here, but oh well, the cast is keeping me entertained"

Probably the slowest first episode of a season they've done so far but I'm still looking forward to it

its pretty good. slow buildup , i'm hoping.

the last episode was trippy like how he did Legion

Mac from Sunny in Philly was the best part of the latest episode.

Last episode was my favorite of the season. A Ray Wise cameo is always welcome, but Fred Melamed killed it and really took that Thaddeus Mobley story to another level. Love that Hawley has the confidence to just make a left turn like that so early in the season.

Season has been very disappointing IMO. The first season was spectacular and the second was right there with it, but I think Hawley may have been stretched understandably thin between this season of Fargo, Legion, and his upcoming adaptation of Cat's Cradle.

It's still better than almost anything on cable TV these days, but individual seasons are starting to set pretty high standards (especially as far as stand alone beginning-to-end seasons).

Totally agree, it's not bad by any stretch, but this season has underwhelmed for sure. Can't tell if it's because of the 2010 setting, the repetitiveness of every character outside of Varga, but it's just not clicking with me.

the wrench being in all three seasons was nice

he definitely made the end of the last season way better

ending was Schrodinger's cat

a lot of people disliking this season, but im cool with it

i still didnt completely understand the opening scene , i have an idea of what it meant, but not entirely sure if its true

Thought the season was good but I think a big problem for season 3 was that the cast was so much better in the first two seasons

Totally forgot about that opening scene.. what's your idea on it??

the ending scene kind of seemed very similar to the opening scene

opening scene: detective is telling the guy what crimes he did and the guy is pleading innocent saying he is not that man that hes accused of being, and that he has the wrong guy

ending scene: Gloria Burgle is telling Vargas what crimes he did and vargas is playing innocent like he didn't do anything and will go free.

i dont know, just seems like its more of the Schrodinger cat thing where it isn't either of the things because we didnt see it (the viewer)
