It would take a really good actor to act like a guy who decided to act like a guy who he acted the role of in a movie. Very layered.

The only good Tupac movie would be a Cohen Bros take on him actually faking his death and living out his years in Cuba or wherever.

They did a good job. Tupac is just impossible to portray convincingly, and that kinda ruins the whole illusion.

But the script is solid.

And the supporting characters are on point - Haitian Jack, Suge, Snoop, Shock G, Jada.

Another 2pac movie sans the obligations/constraints of a biopic could indeed be dope tho.

in re nwa movie
yeah but at least that kinda captures a critical moment in time at least for west coast rap that set the stage. it's understandable they'd want to make that into a movie. but even thinking about making this into a movie is basically where you stop. blastmaster had the best idea but in order to be interesting it'd have to be more riveting than 2pacs actual life.

Just my two/four cents

I feel like people praise the NWA movie cause it's the closest any rap biopic has gotten to being good. It was really just Ice Cube and Dre giving each other handjobs , with a few good scenes thrown in. Also, F Gary Gray was out of his depths. If you put that same movie/script in the hands of a more capable director, it would have been 5 times better.
This Tupac movie looks like absolute shit but, yeah, of course it does. It's a movie about Tupac.

The scene where Dre beats up a room full of Bloods in front of Suge is fucking amazing. Star Wars level fantasies.

That scene and the scene where eazy cries due to seeing the death row billboard were insanely off base

counterpoint from a dude who wrote a whole book about West Coast rap

https://www.villagevoice.com/2017/06/20 ... hievement/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

he has an interesting argument about various people who may have insight into Pac's life critiquing the movie because it's not showing the version of events that they themselves want out there

All pretty true.
"Ice Cube and Dr. Dre's Revisionist History Lesson for New Jack Millenials" shouda been the subtitle of "Straight Outta Compton".
They did Eazy kinda dirty in that shit, and cleaned up Dre's hot garbage history quite tidily.

Benny Boom filmed about 1/5th of this Tupac movie like a god damn rap video instead of a exploratory biopic of arguably the most important rap figure in history. So much SMH at certain points.

That being said: the Afeni Shakur moments were really touching, even though a few of them sure seem like they were embellished a tad. Now that we know how many creative liberties they took with the Jada Pinkett moments, there is a bit of dismay.

The casting of Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre was HORRIFIC. That afro on the Snoop Dogg?? FUCKING RIDONKULOUS. Like 4 times the size of Andre 3000's fro in 'SemiPro'. The Suge Knight was decent though. The pristine Death Row dinner scene was slightly begging to cuddle up beside the moment in history made by DeNiro and his baseball bat/team metaphor in The Untouchables, and it almost deserved a place. But nah.

There better not be anymore biopics. Maybe Outkast, but I don't want to see nobody else's... except 2 Live Crew's one, The Book of Luke... but I HAVE TO research that, for porno purposes

it's called Can't Stop Won't Stop.
I'll be seeing this one opening fucking night. this IS entertainment. this movie will help define what true entertainment really is.

image is too big to post. the fact of which is as prophetic and appropriate as the image itself

This made the NWA movie look like Citizen Kane in comparison.
