Yohan wrote:The biggest issue I have with the show is about (3), its transition from a show and/or series which defied the traditional fantasy genre to a show which has become exactly that, a cliché fantasy show. GGRM has structured the story so that it was able to be more than just good vs. evil, although there was always the omnicidal threat of the Wild Walkers. While the series attempts to stay true to that philosophy, part of its appeal is breaking some of the more prevalent character tropes in fantasy, the hero’s journey, the romantic, how to deal with bad guys etc. To me, it feels the show has thrown everything in the wind in order to stage a few large set piece battles. It could have been so much more then it currently is.
it blows my mind that they're going soft like this. last real genre breaking moment was red wedding in s3, and that's still the touch point for viewers. you can't just give people what they wanna see, that's boring. they'll make a bigger impact if they break people's hearts.

just look at in the in the same respect Lord of The Rings trilogy did it?

That's how I get over scenes like that.

Like, when Bilbo gave Gandalf the ring, and then Gandalf went to Minis Tirith to study and read about gollem and all that, he was gone for YEARS/DECADES(?) and then it just shows him galloping on a horse back to the shire to ask Frodo if the ring is safe. A lot of people think that happened within a few days but it was YEARS. Their transition was cool because i showed Gandalf galloping through countryside, but this show is weird it just goes from Davos on island with Jon, and then the next clip he is talking to Gendry and shit.

whatever though, still a really good episode! Sam and Gilly conversation was lit. It's too bad he did to Gilly what the Maesters always do to him and just ignored her. Kind of ironic.

Also funny if not pointed out is how the water Jamie was attacked in was shallow enough for him and whoever pushed him out of the way to ride their horses in but then instantly as deep as an ocean once Jamie was pushed under lol... The horses walk on water...

***Potential Spoiler***

Has anyone else heard about the Night King killing one of Dany's dragons and raising it as his mount in the next episode?

Since Rhaegar was married to Elia Martell, it was never made clear whether he eventually got an annulment and married Lyanna; as far as anyone knew, he had simply kidnapped Lyanna. This of course has huge implications, because now that it has been confirmed that he and Lyanna were actually married, that makes Jon the true heir to the iron throne, not dany.

Gendry's reintroduction felt like something out of some shitty network cop show rather than GOT

this stuff is becoming very noticeable now.
