Re: The Battle of '97

97 was so boring except for some underground stuff. most albums sucked ... imo, it was the first year of the 90s singles outdid full-length albums, just like 86, 87. anyways, voted for funcrusher+ because it was a start of the rawkus movement (that got me very much after the first few releases, too)...

oh, and de la's 4th album was nice, too. in adition, these guys got lots of great of great non-lp tracks on comps and 12"es in 96.

you didn't include the cenobites and juggaknots albums bevause the recordings date back to 93/94, right?

wasn't heltah skeltah's debut album released in '96, too? from the list, I think I'll vote for dr. octagon as the line-up of kool keith, qbert and dan automator was so amazing, plus they introduced sir menelik, and dj shadow co-production/remix added flavor. imo, mobb deep' hoe and redman's mw are o...

Re: The Battle of '94

94 was the most amazing year for hip hop since 88.

voted for organized, but word...life and darkside are also unique recordings on a similar level.

instead of mop, tical and that mediocre brand nubian album, you should have included saafir's boxcar sessions.

Re: The Battle of '93

I'd take Akinyele's Vagina Diner over the listed albums any day!

From the list, DLS or ATCQ.

IMO, out of the first half of the 90s, 93 has been the weakest year for hip hop.

Re: Best / Favorite Alchemist Produced Project

Alchemist is so damn ill. Top 5 producer ever imo. co-sign this statement, he's on par with guys like dj premier, pete rock, and extra p, maybe more versatile than those guys. voted for albert einstein, but with the mad underrated "rare chandeliers" project, he took the muted drums genre to the nex...

Dinosaur niggas like Gloss and Thun whose formative rap years were like '88 to '95 are usually gonna fuck with Illmatic more. They think Halftime > the Message. Slightly younger bros, such as myself, who were outchea from '96 to '02 always thought It Was Written was great, but still couldn't front ...

Re: Mapping Out the Stretch & Bobbito Show (with Tape Rips)

As much as I love listening to the tapes from the 90's I'm happy to see how Stretch and Bob have evolved, that's good to hear they played all genres and didn't stick to Hip Hop. There's plenty of other DJs who are willing to spin Golden Era rarities 24/7/365 we can find online nowadays if we want. ...

Outta these, only Illmatic for me. Maybe LET, OB4CL, 36 Chambers and The Infamous minus a few tracks, but that doesn't mean perfection.
