I don't like the beat at all, it's a whirling high-pitched sound, like a broken garbage disposal or something. I've also heard that vocal sample used before, the chick singing in the background.EichTurner wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 4:11 amhmm... thought the whole thing was pretty fire. cryotherapy might be my favorite track actually...

Re: Roc Marciano thread
It's a slow burner album. Eerie moody beats, there are a couple soulful ones with lush pianos and vocal samples. I think it's a good album but there aren't any bangers, although I think Rauf hits pretty hard. Takes a few spins to grow on you. Chopstick and Cryotherapy are the only two tracks I don't...

Apathy- Connecticut Casual 2 Crimeapple/Preservation- El Leon Common/Pete Rock- The Auditorium Vol. 1 Fairly unremarkable year. As always lots of stuff I haven't heard, but I feel like I listened to a lot of new stuff this year, more so than previous years. Oh and the Roc Marciano grew on me, could ...

Re: Common and Pete Rock - The Auditorium...
There isn't one song I love, and that isn't usually a good sign in terms of replay value. Wise Up is probably my favorite song, Chi-Town Do It has a cool rhythm as well, so does Stellar. Pete Rock isn't pushing the boundaries, he stays with the same formula for the most part. Common does his thing, ...

Re: Common and Pete Rock - The Auditorium...
Yes, it is good. It is an extremely uplifting soulful album. It has signature Pete Rock horns on a lot of the songs. The sound doesn't change much, I would have liked maybe a couple more gritty beats, but it matches Common's style and lyrics perfectly. 4/5, really good summer album.

I heard the song with Nas (Scar Tissue) and liked it a fair bit, 7/10 track. Everyone told me how horrible the rest of album is, so I have no desire to listen to it. Copywrite just dropped an album entitled The Last Supper. Only listened a couple times, didn't give it my full attention, but it had s...

Re: Roc Marciano thread
Steve God Cooks? Nah. That Reasonable Drought album was cool, but it wasn't all that, and that was only because of Roc's production. That album was in 2020. What has he done since then? He is not a remarkable rapper imo. Not feeling his voice, flow, or lyrics that much. The new Roc album was okay. T...

https://youtu.be/879Bm7BP-wM?si=NoKRuwgmm6eEQR6z That's my favorite track of the year. Posting videos on this site is weird, it is Tick Tock Tick by Apathy. The entire album by is pretty good, but that beat is on another level. Fenwick and Never Change ft. Little Vic are also dope. Apathy is a reall...

Re: 2024 Projects
I am literally listening to El Leon for the first time right now. Almost done, it's a dope listen. I feel like Crimeapple's flow didn't match up with the beat on one of the songs, but aside from that butter. I never thought I would hear a new song with Sadat X on it. Hus and 9th Wonder released an a...

I didn't hear enough new stuff to have a real opinion, but I will say that Elzhi & Oh No- Heavy Vibrato is a good album and should be mentioned.
I listened to Ransom & Nicholas Craven- Director's Cut 4 today and it was pretty fire.

Re: Favorite 2022 Album (from the list)
I thought Cheat Codes was really good, 9/10. Production was superb. Black Vladimir is cool. Ridin Dirty is an excellent song, the rest of the album doesn't excite me as much. I was disappointed in the Roc & ALC. They are capable of so much more. Zip Guns is a fucking heater though. Haven't heard any...

One of the more unique hip hop artists that ever existed. Dope voice + flow. His beats knocked too. Gonna be revisiting a lot of his work in the coming weeks, there are a few albums of his I never checked, like Take Me to Your Leader and the Special Herbs collab with MF Grimm.

How did you feel about the other Alchemist produced joints from this year? The EP for Conway and the LP for Boldy James? Which Wavo project do you mean? He's done a couple EPs (Wave Riddler and King of the Underworld, the second labeled as a mixtape, but nonetheless), End of a Decade LP, and then t...

Re: Halfway Through 2020 Recap and Catch-Up Thread
Good thread, gives me some stuff to check out. I've been sleeping a bit this year, the slow death of hip hop forums has killed my source of knowledge regarding new releases. Alfredo was disappointing. Alchemist is my favorite producer ever, but that was a bit uneven with the beats. Hus Kingpin had a...

Reasonable Drought has been getting hype on various forums. I gave it a try and wasn't feeling it, don't like Cooks' voice or flow. Roc is typically ill with the beats but those weren't his best - there were a couple smashers though. -xa_j7-4lTU Another one of my favorite songs ever. That beat is so...

I got to meet Roc a few months ago at a show in LA. Definitely a rap nerd moment. He's my favorite MC and hip hop artist ever, so it was cool to chop it up for a couple of minutes. I've seen him live three times, and he kills it every time.

HNBJ-QRuzdw Words don't describe how much I love this song. I would put it in my top 50 favorite songs ever. That beat switch is so dirty, love that old dusty jazz/vocal sample mixed together. Big Ghost is so ill. That whole album is flames. QfzRB8uyt1I Such an epic beat from Giallo Point. Another ...

^ Not my favorite song on that album, but a good one. Potholderz is my joint, Count Bass D killed that beat.
I revisited this album, still don't like it tons, but this track is great. Very nice beat from Muggs, sample is smooth as fuck.

His album with Futurewave (Headcrack) is my favorite album of the year. Beats are crazy and Rome can spit for sure. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81E...

I like that new Stepbrothers track. Nothing amazing but good. Alchemist's voice sounds different. Their first album was a bit uneven, but it had some really dope tracks.

Boring album. Muggs is overrated imo. His sound the last 5+ years has really changed. All his beats are the same downtempo dark beats with a distorted sample. I liked the albums with GZA and Planet Asia but his recent ones not so much.

It's funny, Architect has produced two of my favorite albums ever, this and Self-Preservation, but I don't think I've heard much else from him. He had a few tracks on Encore's second album that I wasn't really feeling. I see he has some new material from the last couple of years with some guy Nowaah...
