Just vote on who you thought won. Itג€™s not about reading Pharoahe Monchג€™s liner notes or Dice Clays stand-up routine, its what was the better battle rhyme. Period.
Put it this way - You got styled on.

another question, how different is the trini slang than jamaican slang, or any of the other english speaking islands? are they THAT much different or only subtly different?

im no expert on jamaican slang, but i know that obviously yall have "dread, babylon, vex" in common, at least.

How the fuck do you have flow when reading text? Do you know how to count bars? You must be reading my shit as if it was with Canibus' cadence.

Gloss - what he's referring to is word placement and then rhythm. If you read a piece out loud you can more or less tell whether the lines were composed in a rhythmic manner, that is if the words flow together well and the rhymes line up. Usually, this is easily discerned. In your case, most of your lines are choppy as hell. Just saying.

Ehhh, I guess but to me writing a verse for a track and writing a battle verse are two completely different things. To me (and I guess only me) when I write these verses, there done in the manor as if I was on stage battling you. Theyג€™re all frees.

I figure it wouldn't get many replies, based on the amount of time between replies in this thread. If it warrants being weekly I am down to have it weekly.

Do you remember the debate on Freestyle, I think it was a thread in Troy, its apparently a ridiculously vague term that has many different meanings dependent upon who you ask.

The birthplace, the first taste, the first tapes
first flows, first shows, first prose pro's
Ive never visited the city yet i feel it in me
Everytime I touch a mic I bite the apple
No Black Eyed Pea's needed for Good Luck
Got Honeys for miles that I could give a good fuck
Whats your favorite Borough, Brooklyns thorough
I dont fuck with queens, its too gay of a name
Never been to the Bodega, late like just discovering Sega
But, First chance i get ill kill a juice and sit on the stoops

Some of it is stuff both islands inherited through British colonization.

Some slang we borrow from them and some slang they borrow from us.

But there's alot of shit they say that we don't and vice versa. And in most cases, our syntax is different. I can see how an 'outsider' might be unable to tell the two apart or consider the difference subtle, but to me, it's a huge difference.

As a point of reference - When I watch Jamaican flicks, I always use the subtitles.

I've never been to JA though, so I'm no expert either.

Forgotten lore from the slums at Gotham's rotten core
Magic spun turntable crumbs droppin' hot drums galore
Suede and velour dipped pop-n-lockers drop to the floor
Clockin' honies rockin' doorknockers and knock-off Dior
Hard rocks bop with they shotties cocked non-stop at war
beat cops prop themselves on the block and get popped in fours
Bored kids wop to Scott La Rock's shocking sureshot score
Projects tore up from Inwood to New Lots, take the tour...

^^

i disagree with this 'if you read it aloud you can tell' BS. there are many different ways to read things and many different ways to switch up what you are saying (in this case writing) and since it IS in text only with no other kind of indication it would be difficult to detect a change unless it was something you are familiar with and/or closer to consciousess at that moment....just saying

Where the hell is this bar?
This is an industrial park.
At least we won't have problems
with a place to park.

I think I can hear some music.
Was that a rat or a dog?
Lets just start knocking on these ugly ass doors.
I swear there's no bar here.

I have no idea where we are.
I have no idea where the bar is.
These streetsigns don't have names.
Are we still in manhattan?

Dog, this is Hoboken isn't it?
No? Then where the hell is this bar?
How did we get here?
I'm very drunk.

I'm very very drunk.
Whose idea was it
to stock up on drugs for the entire weekend?
Now I'm all fucked up.

With no drugs for the weekend.
Can I bum a square?
I smoked all mine because they were so cheap.
12 dollars for a loosey.

I hate you.
Fuck the bar I'm going home.
But I haven't seen a cab in an hour.
And I don't know which way north is.

North? You fucking new york bastard.
This up and over shit means nothing to me.
Cardinal directions, bitch.

Oh, I'm sorry officer.
I'm a tourist.
I've been here for 18 months.

Fuck you.

Gray hairs can stay there.
I been a pimp since Daycare.
Faking sleep at nap time
So I can see some underwear.

Middle school I felt the love.
Hands on ass at recess hug.
Baby I made a rap song for you
on my graphing calculator.

Come hit this airhead.
You 12 year old air head.
I brought you to the boiler room
So I could get some head.

Less teeth
Less teeth
Less teeth
Here's a wet nap
for your hypercolor tee.

I don't know much
But if this isn't love...
Then NBA Jam is.

I don't rhyme much, it aint do to laziness...its just this
Fact that words aren't ill enough to do my concepts justice
So fuck this...even if i quit now none could touch me
In god we trust, but i only trust me
Nah...thats just from tryin to mix all these chemicals
Brains fucked...so i think solely with my genitals
After a few shots of crown...
I feel like i'm on the skyline with my feet dangling down
I smoke too much weed and cant remember shit
Thats my girl on the left, she just don't know that shit yet
Or maybe its the one on my right
Fuck it...its whoever i get drunk enough tonight
If its clean...you could bring me the most retarded of cunts
Cause I swear, if no one found out id poke ANY bitch once
Zero regrets...don't even remember the names of an ex
Just the one i'm with now, and the one ill fuck next
I'm stupid as fuck...but for some reason still accepted
...Just like those blonde cheerleader bitches i slept with
I can talk and talk about sluts...its bitches galore
Like my boss...hes a whole new kinda whore
Aight, im a cocky kid...yeah im that guy
My boss says "get to work"...ill say no, he'll ask why
Then i reply...
"Motherfucker it will ruin my high"

Apparently...my stream of conscious got a lot of rocks and rapids
..but it happens, and its better than being stagnant...

Straight out LaGuardia hit up Bleeker and Carmine
Famous Joes got a pie thatג€™s all mine
Everybody wants a bite but I aint having it
Grilling me after my third Iג€™m bout to have a fit
The Village is incomparable
Man I wish Fat Beats wasnג€™t so unbearable
A few re-releases and an overwhelming amount of Uncle Howie
Finally copped the new Tef
Then later that evening saw El at the Bowerly
