Post by LadyDeathStrizzy »

Been seeing/hearing great things about him. but I am lazy. Give me ONE track to listen to from this dude to either make me love him or hate him. Im not too beat on the freshman class.. it takes me AWHILE to get into things.. I just got around to listen to Cudi's depressing ass album..so you see i rush not for these neggas.

Let me know

I thought Wiz Khalifa was just another forgettable new rapper until I heard 'Take Away'.

Pittsburgh Sound, while good, is underwhelming and far from Khalifa's best because it feels unauthentic and forced. Miss me with that skinny ass, goofy dude talking about guns and making threats.

I think his persona now is more authentic. It also makes him stand apart from his peers. He's a fresh voice.

Like I said in the thread I made before about him, he'll never probably make a classic album, but he'll have a lot of great songs under his belt before he's done.

Here's some good tracks he's made recently:

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3h23WgVYDbQ&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3h23WgVYDbQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V1znfCVZBHs&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V1znfCVZBHs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

As already stated his recorded music can be a little underwhelming, but he kills it live and in person.

Some stuff that I haven't seen posted before.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aWWP4xtxXXE&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aWWP4xtxXXE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

This song deserved a better video and a push from a major label. With decent promotion it could've gotten some decent radio play.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-wNr8f_4Krc&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-wNr8f_4Krc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Snippet from Ski's 24 Hour Karate School. Best beat I've heard from the album so far.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/N9sQgtM23Jw&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/N9sQgtM23Jw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Song comes in a 50 seconds. B.O.B. and Kanye are only people making pop-rap songs on Wiz' level. Like Kayne, this dude isn't an exceptional MC, but he makes great songs. If anyone has a CDQ of this let me know. Step One...what's up bro! You're gonna love this shit. Str8 RAW Hif-hoff!

wiz's older shit is definitely better. new shit is more on some college kid party steez. i can see how cats wouldnt fuck with it. but i really came in here to

:larry: :larry: :larry: at mindbender for STILL sleeping on that cudi album. you may as well not even listen to it now. shits good though.

back to wiz tho, i def wanna hear that joint on the 24HKS mixtape. that beat is nice.

but if you wanna hear wiz spit, any of the old joints up until star power even for a few, but then after that its all weed and airplanes and bitches.

not that theres anything wrong with that

from what i've seen/read most of his fans seem to have a realistic understanding of just what his assets are. i rarely see people claim that he's anything other than what he is.

imo he has a knack for making good songs. his abilities as a rapper may be below average by :phila: standards and to critics in general but he does just enough with his different deliveries and more than digestible content as to compliment his ear for beats and excellent hook writing ability.

like Icesickle said, he probably won't ever be good for a single album that's great in it's entirety but i'll check for everything he puts out because he's certain to have a small handful of absolute hitters on everything he touches.

if you're not feeling the majority of stuff posted in this thread, keep it moving as you'll most likely be wasting your time digging any deeper.

i dunno, i mean, hes no jay electronica or nothin, but he can rap his ass off. as blastmaster would tell you, his early work shows that.

maybe he just chooses not to anymore, or doesnt feel like it. weed is a hell of a drug. hes definitely got his lane that hes ridin in and its working well for him. im a fan
