Word.

yeah, that's phenomenal...
agreed.

As far as getting really complex with it and sounding effortless, no one comes close to Big Boi in my opinion.

The way he phrases and stays so deep in the pocket of the beat all the time is mind numbing to me.

these are a couple of my favorites.

Andre has a better flow than Big Boi in my opinion. Andre, BIG, Black Thought, Jay, Q-Tip, Big Boi, and Pharoahe Monch have my favorite flows of any rappers..

Andre's flow is fuckin' out-of-this-world. "A Day In The Life Of Andre Benjamin" is head-and-shoulders above anything Big Boi will ever do.

Personally, the slower, cough syrupy-sounding Big Boi is my preference. His verse at the end of "International Player's Anthem" over a lot of shit.

You can't be serious. Not saying this song displays the best flow ever, but really? Lil Wayne has never shown a great flow on the level of Biggies, and Jadakiss is dope, but he's not on B.I.G.s level at all. Jadakiss isn't better than BIG in any category, especially when it comes to making music. Jadakiss hasn't put together a good album, while Big has 2 very good albums (both are considered classic albums by many). Anyways, I think Biggie has one of the best flows/delivery ever. As a vocalist, he was definately one of the best, and could say anything and I could still listen to it..
I'm serious. If cadence means flow, Jada kills BIG. Lil Wayne is hit or miss cuz he's always experimenting, but he's not rich for no reason, he has a great flow and I'm not gonna try to find another example for you. Jadakiss doesnt make better albums than BIG but that doesnt matter shut up. Besides, BIG is dead and that stands for Bitch I Go muh fugga.

As a vocalist you can put a dick in your throat, wayne and jada are better vocalists than BIG. Pac was fa sho do. I like BIGs flow, I like how he throws his rhymes together, but he wasnt nothing special.

I'm not saying Andre doesn't have an amazing flow. But technically, it is usually remedial to what Big Boi is doing.

That why I said Big has one of my favorite more complex flows. Aesop and Pharoahe would be in the top three probably.

If I was feeling extra geeky, it would take my about 15 minutes to transcribe one of Andre's better flows into musical notation, it would take me like 3 hours to iron out all the subtleties of that Big Boi verse in Mamacita.

Geek on, brother, geek on.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

Do most musicians give rappers this much (deserved?) credit?

OutKast needs to drop something soon... preferably with a naked breezy as the cd art.

Knock yourself out man. It's always good to read a well written and thought out article/essay on something like this.

this... also, twista rappin "slow" (relatively) in 1994 was pretty phenomenal, shame more people haven't heard the unreleased Resurrection album

E-Rule on Listen Up is up there. I've been bumping that religiously for over 15 years. Never gets old. The flow has never been duplicated and is not close to out dated.

Kool G Rap on Ill Street is one of my favorite cuts all time. Total package right there.

....this shit could go on and on.
