Ok, (current emcees):

Freddie Gibbs
Curren$y
Elzhi
Fashawn
Ortiz
Reef went hard on Dumhi (my AOTY so far)
Jay Elec
Chuuwee

I'm probably forgetting some of the most obvious as I always do, but that's enough
While Gibbs outraps Roc and it's not even funny, I don't see how this can be said for Ortiz/Fashawn/Elzhi or even for Curren$y. The first three rap boring as fuck and straight-after-a-joint Curren$y raps aren't whoa either.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

you people take screenames way to seriously around here

is that why I'm getting the ridiculous Sole/Sage argument?

If you think I go around irl calling myself GrimmeyHippy then you're a fucking moron, if you think I have a long beard, hair, and am wearing a tie-dye shirt with a pair of vans listening to slam poetry while playing hacky sack then you're a bigger fucking moron.

I'd put Ortiz, Fashawn, and Elzhi way above Curren$y, but it's subjective

:ohsh: I truly believed that you went around in your day to day life referring to yourself as GrimeyHippy. It is shocking to me that you don't. I didn't think you did any of those things you listed but I am a hundred percent sure that you are a faggot.

You are kinda being a dick for no reason here. I actually have noticed that people who are significantly more into production than lyrics are not as impressed with Roc Marciano's album as I am. I love the album but that makes sense to me. The beats are perfectly crafted for what Roc is doing, but I am most interested in what Roc is doing, not in the beat. I really would not be that interested in an instrumental version of Marcberg.

I totally agree about Roc's style being anything but generic, even if once again I do not agree with the comparison to Ghostface. Like you said, the song concepts are far from new but his language and the pairing of words and phrases are all pretty fresh to me. It's the same reason I like Curren$y, both are exploring old tropes in new ways and doing so with a well-deserved confidence that jumps out of the speakers.

If you are a beats>lyrics type of cat, Marcberg is probably not going to be your favorite record. However, it surprises me that the same person would pick that Homeboy Sandman record, which is impressive lyrically/delivery-wise but sports fairly pedestrian production.

Kid has been trolling the comments section of the blog with his "sage francis is the next stage in human evolution" rhetoric and going on about how much he hates "generic thug music." So no, not for no reason.

Ahh. I see I did not have all the information, allow me to bow out as gracefully as possible here. Carry on.

you got the wrong person homie

I dont go to your fucking blog and I certainly don't post comments on it

check the ip or whatever you want

Sage Francis has only been a part of one thing I ever thought was mediocre, non-prophets - and that was what, almost a decade and a half ago?

That's where my thoughts on Sage Fucking Francis begins and ends

Sean adds nothing to this. Going through the motions might fool borks, but try a little harder for the rest of us.

Roc is dope and Marcberg was one of the best LP's of 2010, especially "Panic"...I would like to see another The UN album soon.

worse than pointless, reach for the toast and get to the cheddar are not actually food references per se, it's just slang usage

AND he got the burrito line wrong

this is the second thing i've read by this guy on unkut and both pieces sucked

Jay Elec was once on Decon. Decon is basically Fat Beats with slightly better distribution.
