Simple or minimal beats u like anyway

Post by blessingindisguise »

Biggie "unbelievable" even brought in the scratches for Primo to do.

Lil wayne "amillie" shits just an 808 kit with a distorted tribe bork sample.

the roots "the web" rimshots sample with a few extra fills.

j. cole "simba" not that hard but definity effective.

too short "life is too short" from the legendary yay area game spitter.

Clipse "grindin" the drums man the drums. Despite being freestyled by a legion of nobody mc's.

Agree with Thun, there are a lot of dope mimimalistic beats. I hate overproduced shit (like Black Milk's last album).

Take "Come Clean." Just a dope obscure sample looped over some hard hitting drums. Perfect.

the part in the video where they are in the studio and the beat is being played out on the mpc always cracked me up because of how super simple the beat is. i don't make beats but if i ever did, i don't think i could ever make a beat like this and go with it but for some reason when i hear it, i get hype.

Pretty much any Neptunes beat:

<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/W26HLYdtKGo?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/W26HLYdtKGo?fs ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>

<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XLHcOAHeXSs?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XLHcOAHeXSs?fs ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>

See: Hell Hath No Fury. Neptunes are the kings of minimal beats.

Another minimal beat I love:

B.I.G. - 'Niggas Bleed' produced by The Hitmen

I agree on Grindin by The Clipse, I have good memories of the year that song came out.

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LFOzuCTIIPA?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LFOzuCTIIPA?fs ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>

The minimalist beats definitely need to remain even today to keep that raw essence of Hip Hop around

Mahogany - Eric B & Rakim
Do The James - Super Lover Cee & Casanova
Fall In Love - SV
too much Premo shit to mention
So Called Friends - Group Home - reminds me of the summer of 93, I love that Ohio Players loop
A Good Combination - Positive K
Precisely The Right Rhymes - Gangstarr
Stroke Of Death - Ghostface
Break My Heart - Common
Black Milk - One Song, Deadly Medley. I'm glad to have Black around as one of those producers who can chop up one or two records at the most and sound more dope than most without adding all the extra shit.

Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.
