Not feeling the song that much but the videos real dope. I still never checked his last album Us out, but I listened to Undisputed Truth a lot when it came out.

Nominee for video of the year.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

I was really surprised this didn't leak earlier. (AKA it's out)

Yeah. Ali is pretty boring on this. And when not boring, he is in his off-putting preacher mode.

And Jake One, as hot he might be at the moment, is no Ant. And not as good a fit for Ali.

And as a complete aside, Ali's "waaaaaaaa" in 'stop the presses' is quite possibly the most obnoxious moment on record in recent memory.

I'd rather listen to Shadows on the Sun.

Jake One killed this, if anything a lot of the production sounds similar to Shadows.

Listen to the whole thing here:

i prefer ANT on anything, but for real though ANT matched perfect beats for ali

jake one is dope though, he has done a great job for ali

i need to give this album some time, too much quality music all at once this summer and as much as it feels bad to say im just not diggin this at the moment, too much "real talk" for me at this time, not in the mood for it

with that said i have the highest utmost respect for brother ali

Whats up with Writers Block and Not A Day Goes by not being on the record? Is there a special edition release that has those tracks?

I'm a huge Brother Ali fan, but I really don't think I like this album... Jake One's beats are OK but nothing more.... kinda tepid and run of the mill, and Ali and ANT go so much better together. The whispery voice which Ali seems to have adopted on a lot of these tracks (and a few on the last album) is weird to me, too. He just doesn't sound the same as he did on Shadows or Champion EP.

There are a few really good tracks, but that's it for me. Hoping it will grow on me because, but i just don't see it yet.

My Mom was telling ME the other day how much she liked the "video that went around Minneapolis with brother ali's new album"

And my Mom is cool. Don't get that wrong. But, but... damn.

...

I hadn't even heard the album. I have now though, an enjoyed much more than I thought. He's been getting a little preachy for me but I enjoyed the album (listening to it in the background while drunk).

Is that a flautist onstage with Ali? Makes me not even want to peep.

No hating hip-hop bands or whatever, it just sometimes I have no stomach for stuff like that.

You mad my man's flaunting a flautist?

I hear ya, tho. It's weird to see Ali on the stage with so many people when for years he didn't even have a hype man.

Brother Ali & Jake One dropped "Left In The Deck" today out of nowhere....a collection of 10 unheard tracks. The 'album' is streaming below and apparently downloads are available for those that buy a shirt or something.

Yeah - wasn't expecting this release, on first listen it's pretty great. A return to form of sorts for Ali, that flow on the third track is :ohsh:
