i would totally check out these combat jack shows if they weren't over two hours long and were just all talk, no music interludes.

This episode is just a 1.5 hour interview. No breaks, no barbershop bullshit at the beginning, no music.

This interview with the Combat Jack crew and Ebro Dardon, the PD @ Hot 97, is awesome. Gives really interesting perspective and insight on how corporate radio works and also why it is difficult for hip hop to work in that model.
ill check for it off your vouch, but someone seriously needs to start doing quality control on that show. 70% of it is usually unlistenable and I end up switching off.

NYT pop critic Ben Ratliff, B Dot from Rap Radar and Caramanica the gawd go in on Chief Keef/rap criticism during this half hour conversation. The link below includes the podcast, as well as a compilation of links to stories and tweets that can fill in the backstory of the various beefs (Jordan Sargent/Spin, the New Republic, Noz, Rembert/Grantland, B Dot/Rap Radar, etc) for those who haven't followed it on Twitter.

If anything they hindered the Ebro episode, it was kinda embarrassing. Ebro was holding court while they floundered asking basic ass basic questions, Benhameen constantly repeating Ebro's points really sloppily etc

Shows steadily been getting better but some of them dudes need to stay on the bench, they do themselves no favours with that shit.

They had about 50 times when they could've gone in on ebro but instead, Dallas Penn would make that "mmm" sound and they would just let ebro's ridiculous statements go. Their questions and their responses made them look foolish.

Too $hort went on The Champs with Neal Brennan, Moshe Kasher and DJ Doug Pound. Its pretty good. The hosts are a lil try hardy, but Short Dogg is so humble and easy going that it works.

so.... i'm very excited to announce that i will soon begin my podcast! i've already got the first handful of awesome guests lined up. the show will focus on "radical philosophy" in all shapes and sizes, i'll be interviewing artists, activists, academics, writers, and people on the ground doing cool shit all over the world. i'll be doing long form interviews with people i respect on subjects that matter. this is not a talk show about music, although i will be interviewing a couple artists who i think have interesting things to say. the goal is to create podcasts that are educational, poignant, and give people a window into new ways of looking at things... its an idea i've been toying with for years and finally what i needed this to be came together over the past 6 months... i begin recording the podcasts this week and when my new website is done it'll have the podcasts integrated into it!

any suggestions for guests?

How is it? Haven't listened yet. The last few episodes of SF have been pretty underwhelming

not great tbh. some of the background on su was interesting.. but the laidback interview style really didn't lend to much

yeah that's kinda their thing. they get really tangential and act internet funny but i rarely come away from their interviews with much more information than i went into them with. which is unfortunate because they land good guests at times.

Glen E. Friedman interview on CJ was great for rap history nerds, or those interested in a portrait of NYC during the 80s.

D-Nice on Combat Jack is really good. He talks about being the reason Scott La Rock was murdered, and being with him when it happened. As well as his fall from fame, plus his work as an internet marketing guru, photographer for Reebok and how he got to DJ the inaugural ball for Obama. Just a great hip hop life story, and he's an awesome story teller. No music breaks or bullshit on this episode. Highly recommended.
