Pen & Pad ALL-IN-ONE Competition: Sign-up! (ONE MORE!)

Post by Nowell's Soul »

Hey ya'll,

Since things are getting a little stagnant on this part of the board, I think it's time for some head-to-head competition. My goal is 16 sign-ups, the deadline to sign-up for this contest is Friday, November 25th. There will be prizes. If you've got friends who'd be interested, tell them about it. The more people who sign up, the bigger the prize will be.

This is going to be kind of a renassiance approach to P&P this time. We've had poetry tournaments, we've had battles, this is going to incorporate both of them. The style of writing will depend on the round, but if you sign up, prepare to write freestyles, poetry, battles, themes, everything.

Good luck.

Pen & Pad All-In-One Tourney:
1. remixture
2. reason is yellow
3. foiegras
4. theaggravatedjew
5. Kid B

8. Aethetical-Hades
9. RacquetballGangsta
10. wheels
11. Gregg Popabitch
12. Zeit
13. Can-U
14. ayentee
15. Knoxx
16.

More slots will be added if interest permits.

[quote]In the last snowstorm, you cornered that bobcat between 4 different redwoods
Now slowly pull that emergency ball of yarn out of your sock elastic
If you pet his argyle cowlick against the grain,
3 millimeters to your left there should be a pressure point
Quickly plunge it and watch the awning fly
All curled up into a hibernation tai chi belly buster

These things help me grow, count me in.

May i suggest that the traditional battle not be in the first round to allow less traditional emcees and more abstract writers to advance

I say that to say this
Bleed aristotles and sundays drink wine Christ rest holy holy
Interpret maxims contract dissolution....ions + iambs
Swedish herdsgirls bonneted, crochet + hide Nordic knees
a Mandingo's fantasy, an Ethiope - well adorned + bejewelled, barechested
in the Arctic summer - lusting after the hidden pastoral goddess of
the North, an alien and a siren. a veiled Namorita
swimming in the sun.
I gave up to the night time and swung headlights through thoroughfares - heavily cathartic, scintillating
a new visual theater
ancient history embryonic eyeballs
In a real life scene, chop up the edges and intercut magic
death and disability - now I stand in between deism and a constellation of Gregorian sounds.
I like to lie down in my limitations drawn by numbers and statistics. I want to breathe in a film with things that get forgotten left out. and see to it that correlations are planted in a new fertile earth most cunningly pedicured by nocturnal hands, thievish, Robin Hoods. dukes and colonels, generals and sea captains live in crystal ballrooms and eat the finest fruits flown in from exotic jungle Eden and applaud musical Germanic folktales tracking the downfall of a hero whimpering through sentience. I remember my boat's belly dragging the pebbled bottom, that eternal regress of whoosh, a fabric to the ear, a pirate - wearing no malicious countenance.
I tapdance elegantly, remembering piano keys, of one color, the texture smooth and endearing, a spoonful of sustenance teeth need not touch.

Just got around to checking this, pretty impressive. Something about 'Cruisin' Through" is really infectious.

Props. Thanks for sharing.

her soft delicate hands strangle my essence and leave me breathless
with a presence graced by a demure allure, lure me closer with every step
we walk along awkward paths covered in cracks that mask directions...
see i've seen a sea of intersections and sometimes the tides can hide
what's on our minds or in the hearts that start to beat and race as we,
pace patiently in rushed times to find we end up where destiny dictates...
the face of fate is smiling with an impressible grin as i watch her bite her bottom lip
as i slip into into the covers to sip what's laying under fresh from her naked flesh,
undress our souls with touch and sensations that leave us aching for more...

baby, i don't have much money but i'm rich with an internal itch of want
so i flaunt the thoughts and feelings of wanting to be with you and i know it gets confusing
i'm not asking you to be choosing me but rather you to join me and feel free...
to share our perceptions and learn to understand each others expressions
to express beyond the kisses and caresses your happiness and inner desires
and build a fire of passion and trust more red hot then the color of your cheeks when you blush...
i guess what i'm trying to say is that you are something extraordinary and special
and as we're new to each other we float atop this vessle i never want to sink,
i think i think i think,
but all i really know...

together with you we can radiate lightbrite and let our auras glow.

 I say let's get HopeLess +1 and make it an 8-spot tourney. The extravangant prize can be something frugal like 2 CDs or somethin like that.

Fill In The Blanks

Post by Kid B »

each day we try to spin earth on our tongues
and while our idols are hung we calibrate the young
to go to school and learn how democratization can rule
if you take out the cogs and replace them with spokes
bring out the giants and arm them with jokes
we've spent time learning how much time we've spent giving thanks
to the ones we've opressed as to fill in the blanks
sometimes life has a way of making you know
that willingness determines how far you'll go
and honesty is not only the best policy but it's honestly
opposite of the way it should be
home of the brave, land of the free
a poem on a page, a hand on a tree
to reconcile the transitions of artistic vision
life isn't scripted, shit isn't television
so your reality to me is more than reality TV
when you cross the street and forget where you are
you just fill in the blanks to continue moving
because last week's regret can bring you improvement
we watch the sun take down the moon and see the stars reflected in our eyes
wake out of bed, break bread, energize and exercise
go to work go to school go to the place we all subside
commit to obligations and start journeys with laces untied
with banners and badges, bad manners and catches
when you get to the bottom line - don't bother signing your name
just fill in the blanks so everything remains the same

Well, the only reason I hadn't signed up yet was because I have been relaly busy and have 2 tests coming up...But fuck it. I'll sign up.

Besides, I never got my prize for the first tourney and making it to the semi-finals of the keystyle battle was fun.

I'll try to make the deadlines best I can.

something about this seems detached and cold
what you got from the jumpoff is a piece that needs feeling more than
what was expressed in general terms of endearment
anyways thanks for sharing
stay up

OK so that's 2 more heads. An 8-spot tourney would be a nice and swift 3 round elimination. Kind of like a real slam.

they make the space inside a Hummer
gargantuan so that you can
get a hummer inside one
That's not that practical, Jack
to send that kind of capital back
It's an asphalt and concrete SUV stampede
with rubberneckers gridlocked congested freeways
interstate intertwined
(better not be late for dinner time)
or else you'll be compelled to pull out the cell
and call your spouse to reheat what is left to eat in the house
there once was a four car pile-up on a highway near me
see EMS and cops pulling out the jaws of life
to pry into a Ford Taurus like a carving knife
and glass shards lined up the twisted metal
carefully removing some kid's foot from the gas pedal
then there was the incident on Route 35
when my friend Julie lost her life
car went crashing into a traffic post
to bend the metal into a broken flower petal
the driver survived her
because on the road of life there are no passengers
the rear-ended plastic and fiberglass class
holds no liability on a divided highway
that's a wrap for you
unless strapped with airbags, it's an aesthetic mess
they built hybrid technology
and neglected to tell people upon impact
a gas-electric conversion system
will turn your mode of transportation
into a smoldering conflagration in fact if struck on impact
lucky if you can leave the scene intact
but as long as roads are black and split with double yellow lines
and parallel to power and telephone lines
we will travel the expanse of the world fine
and exit off ramps to access the nearest gas stations
the other morning I drove by a sign
that gave explicit instructions to report suspicious activities if seen
and didn't think what it could mean if terrorists
were in our traffic patterns pushing plastique and pyrotechnics
this shit is getting mighty hectic
so I shift to cruise control
continue slow as to avoid sharp turns and crossing livestock
living life in the passing lane watching out for all y'all blinkers
