There's nothing soft about that beat. Those drums are epic, bro.

Are we supposed to only compare beats with the same tempo now? They were done for the same artist; I don't see what the big deal is.
You can compare them and their varying tempos all you want while feasting on foie gras, but is the direct comparison a fair way to assess "Chain Heavy"?

No you don't have an ear for drums at all.

The piano stabs sound reminscent of EWS, but I don't know if it was a direct sample.

I need to do a Revisiting thread in CYE about EWS. Saw it again last weekend. I would kill to see that on Blu Ray. That movie is sooooo fucking underrated.

^also in agreement with EWS as being underrated, for the record, very glad I had the presence of mind to see it in the theater.

ICE EDIT to underrated?

Seeing it in the theater was a mixed experience cause I got visibly umad when 3/4 of the people in the theater were bitching about it sucking while walking out because they were disappointed it wasn't Basic Instinct 2 or some shit...

Yeah, good eye. We're derailing this thread, though, take it up in CYE before Ardamods shows up.

Music.

Judging it on its own merits, I think the beat for "My Chain Heavy" doesn't fit the subject matter at all and the Ed Wood sound effects are annoying. I was expecting a lot more from the song after hearing Kanye spit his verses to it acappella:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/exNOyZ220jg?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/exNOyZ220jg?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

The beat doesn't compliment, or live up to, the quality of Kanye's verses, which are some of the best he's ever spit.

Marley Marl was a great rapper and still is.

And this is a great album. Could do without the last Bon Iver track, but otherwise :rockout:

Album is absurdly good. Not mad at at the lengthy songs, at all. Beautiful production on nearly every track and Kanye is in a zone throughout.

Like someone (I think it was Comedy) said if you don't like this album you just don't like Kanye because Kanye's rapping is on par with anything he's ever done, especially on tracks like "Gorgeous."

I ignored every album single leak, 90% of the Good Friday tracks, and almost all the Kanye hype and talk. I'm pretty excited to fire this up right now.

This album could do without Hell of a Life and Lost In The World. Take those out, add The Joy, and it is a full blown classic. The album is still incredible either way.

Word. While you're at it add on a Big Sean-less "GOOD Friday" and a Kid Cudi-less "Christian Dior Denim Flow."

Yup.

Damn good album!! Ignoring leaks from albums you are highly anticipating works like a charm every single time.
