In 2015, without EL-P involved?

No, not at all.

I'll listen to it at some point, but I'm far from excited about it.

Megagraffiti and The Revolution of Young Havoks were both amazing. I hope you're trolling.

Starting a track with Vast is just about the worst idea.

Well-executed imaginative concept? "My favorite rock band was Iron Maiden." Profound, god!

I'm really happy that Vordul sounds good.

pretty decent. the beat has the vibe that's needed, but it's boring as hell.

doom's verse was damn good.

it's the same as i said about new Necro - he's not rapping like he used to, he's trying really hard to come up with a reasonably satisfying facsimile of rapping how he used to. subtle difference sometimes but an important one. and how he used to rap hasn't aged well to begin with, some of his stuff on CV is kinda cringe worthy now. there's a reason why everybody flipped to liking Vordul over the years.

I don't know ... I was always in the "Vordul is clearly better" camp if such a thing ever existed, but that Vast verse sounds pretty natural to me, or as natural as his very-ambitious/often-ridiculous lyrics go.

The new Necro is a different story, but I think here the case is more the latter part of your argument -- that people's tastes have changed so the Vast stuff they once championed as ingenious/innovative, they now see as corny. (Same could be said for the whole movement really, ... that whole used to jock Anticon, now you jock Dispet thing or whatever the modern equivalent would be.)

Regardless, I think this verse stands up with his CV shit, or at least, doesn't make me wish he wasn't on the track or in any way deflate my high expectations for the album.
