I have no way of listening to either rapper mentioned in this thread right now, but based on the conversation taking place here I assume I'm going to like both a great deal.

You can be russian and not fully white. 'Russian' here colloquially encompasses any immigrants from former Soviet Union, so he could be from one of the eastern republics.

In some areas of old soviet culture, the word 'black' is actually a fairly racist term against georgians/armenians/Azerbaijani /etc

I don't think he's "european" at all. Does he drop n-bombs? That's usually the defining factor.

Well the eastern republics i'm referring to are not in Europe, they're actually closer to the middle east.

Yeah i did some internet detective work again, Block. Its on the front page. dude started off as a youtube beatmaker and freestyler (hed post vids of making beats as "GrandmaOnDrums" and posted some freestyles, probably around 2009, but theyve since been removed..

Not as crazy about either of these artists as I thought I'd be TBH. Droog is more immediately accessible. I enjoyed reading about Rast running around NY on PCP cutting people, but that didn't really make his voice any more palatable.

Not sure why we're comparing the two artists to begin with ... Will give both projects a full listen later though.
